For gear whores...

So I found this other forum that is really into just EDC items and seem to be a real decent group of people.

www.edcforums.com

It's one of a few forums I check on a regular basis.

Hope to see some of you there.

Whores is the right word.
That forum really cracks me up.
Some of us need gear to do our jobs every day.
Some people just like to look cool and take pictures of their kit.
The porno pics of Strider collections are quite funny.

You know, I've decided that's fine by me. I need to embrace my inner gear whore more often

But I NEED those crenellations on my Surefire x64000 waterproof to the center of the sun light that takes $15 in batteries. What if I'm suddenly lost in the woods for weeks instead of at my day job desk and then have to fight off a bear with my flashlight?

These are valid concerns.

I really do agree with most of the EDC people that I meet in real life, but then there are the Internet Special Forces. Having reliable tools for likely situations is great. I can't stay out of tunnels, vacant buildings, and other dark places - so I carry a cheap LED light. But the people who pack a survival knife along to work are a bit odd. That's less likely to be used, and unlikely to be missed (unless you would miss having your 8" knife around, of course). I'm nearly guilty of the utility b elt effect because I carry a multitool and flashlight. But for a grin, imagine an office worker showing up with some of the lists in the bugout bag section...

It's good to be prepared. Good tools make the man.
There's nothing wrong with having a reasonable BOB in your car and some "shelter in place" gear at work.
