I’m an opportunist. If I’m in heels and a dress and an opportunity appears I will explore in heels and a dress. Or in flip flops, toms, ballet flats, etc. if I’ve planned it’s usually docs or hiking sneakers. Just have to be extra aware of where one sets ones feet if it’s an opportunistic moment. Have had a close call or two with pokey things but the worst pokey thing was the carpet tack through the bottom of my now retired hiking boots

My ancient exploring shoes, complete with melted rubber soles from the Sudbury slag pits. Hubby calls them my "UER" shoes - he's a noob lol!
Ambivalent? Well yes and no |

No picture but I just explore in whatever I happen to be wearing. Normally just running shoes, but sometimes my riding shoes. I really need some tough soled shoes.

Boots make me happy on a visceral level

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

Hi! I am always wearing these old nikes, they have a solid bottom and are waterproof, and they can get dirty ; )

My splorin’ shoes:
Lol, nah, just kidding:
I wandered till the stars went dim. |

Someone exploring this place... http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=26745 ...said that soles of their shoes dissolved themselves while on the property. That never happened to me, but who knows? The only place I ever encountered that was more toxic than this place was Li Tungsten where you not only had dangerous chemicals, but radioactive material just dumped out on the floor.

I bought my pair right before my european trip this summer. Figured it would come in handy for getting into some places with a lot of broken glass, etc. They still haven't even been broken in but this is the first winter in NYC that i'll have boots so I'm looking forward to that luxury. 1.
no god! please no! nooooooooooooo |

Usually use my exploring shoes for about a year (they can't last longer than that lol).. Most of the time i try to get the cheapest ones at Costco Wholesale and they do the job for common abandoned places but depending on the place i also have some steel toe boots if needed that i usually buy second-hand at military surplus store

Man, I really need to get a new pair. My old ones are falling apart since my initial post, and I haven't bought any exploring shoes yet!

I'm in the market for new boots. The desert and the mines I explore are really rough on footwear. The soles on my current boots are completely smooth and that doesn't work for me. I would consider resoling them, but the uppers are starting to deteriorate so it's time for new ones. With the "lockdown" I was out of the exploring game for a couple of months, but I'm back now. Got'ta start hunting down some new ones. Abby Normal

Yeah, I've been out because of college and the lock down but I'm trying to get back in it again. I have some new hiking boots but I'm thinking I'm going to try and find another pair sometime that I can dedicate more to it.

These are my no name hiking boots, been good so far, but not waterproof. If needed to be I go with the traditional rain boots in picture two. 1. 2.
