Some questions since I'm bored right now, wanna ask this question. - Why do you guys explore? Be it the feeling of freedom, or for the shots you get, or just looking at history in general. - What do you enjoy most about exploring? - How do you feel about the risks of doing this hobby? - How long have you been doing this, and has the hobby changed overtime for you older folks. Has the internet and media affected it at all? I'm really interested to hear what you guys have to say about these topics, thanks!

A lousy way to start a rambling series of brain picking Qs There are thousands of threads to read here if you're bored. Many that answer your questions in detail.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

Seems like there have been a few of these lately...
I understand if you are bored, but this site has slow times. Do some research, look for places to explore or hey, maybe go out and explore if you can. Posting boring or redundant content makes other people bored.

Total extent of some members exploring is done from behind a computer. Now go out and explore some real stuff man and bring back some real photos or we wont believe you ever went!

Okay, let me fix that then, I understand that there are a lot of things here to read. I wanted to ask a question that may have previously been answered in the past, but I want to know nowadays, what everyone's interests were in the hobby still.

Yeah that's understandable, I'll pick through my shots and find some stuff worthwhile.

Oh man I just wanted to make a post now I'm apologizing, but yeah, I'm at school all day, I wanted to switch it up. Instead of just browsing through these posts all days dreaming of the next time I can go out, why not ask a question. That was kinda what I was thinking, not trying to be inconsiderate.

Brain picking here doesn't get you very far here... if you do the time, the answers are self evident.

I like to document things

I explore so I can find the forgotten parts of history, and remember them again. The way that nature reclaims abandoned things is beautiful to me.

Different reasons for different times in my life. I generally love to explore and always have been like that. Sometimes I use it as my "drug of choice" when life is stressful. Exploring forces you to be completely in the moment and for that period of time, everything else goes away.

Yeah for real, it's a really good distraction from life. I honestly love the feeling of freedom I get, like how some people get away in the woods and hike or hunt.

You nailed it pretty good there, I love the freedom that comes with it in the moment and everything else in life just falls away for a while. I also love old building architecture, I have always liked going on adventures, and urbex can also be quite the adrenaline rush depending where you are!

I like to get pictures that others may never get the opportunity to get and try to assimilate people to the hobby. There is also an overwhelming feeling of freedom and it helps strengthen bonds with fellow explorers. Finally, I have an addiction with machinery and construction equipment such as elevators and cranes.
I climb to forget about the world and the pain it causes |

I like old things. The places I go are typically industrial as I have a fascination with my areas history in mining and logging. I like to see the way things used to be done and the old style architecture is a whole topic of its own.
