I don't like people. I go to where there are fewer of them.

^^^ What JeepDave said. ^^^ I explore with others, but I most often explore alone. It's my escape from reality. It's oftentimes a place to find peace and quiet.

I'm also always looking for that elusive "perfect shot," and I love the detective work that comes into play as the history of a place unravels in front of me. It's fun to solve the mystery of a place long since forgotten by society. On a similar note, I like to let my imagination run away with me sometimes too.

For me, Exploring is a fairly cheap hobby (with the exception of being caught). It leads to exciting and interesting experiences, as well as tickling the natural human curiosity. Once you find an entry point on a new location you cannot help be continue further. The gorgeous photography or videography possibilities is another major incentive to take a break from researching places and actually go out and discover everything they have to offer.

I explore because I like the excitement of discovering a new location. I also like to climb things like water towers to get pictures of the amazing view.

Even when you get caught (assuming trespassing rather than B&E) the fines are still less than a set of clubs.

The temptation to buy new lenses is a money pit in itself. Photography aside, my costs so far have been relatively minimal. (p-100 mask, new flashlight, and waterproof boots)

I have some trouble completely understanding why I like to explore so much but definitely part of it is seeing the enjoying seeing capitalist institutions decay but another joy of it is a genuine interest of the interworkings of factories.

Municipal trespass/loitering, fines/court costs plus impound and related transportation costs with no lawyer...
Last time I checked $1100 will buy a damn nice set.

Hadn't considered the impound, I always catch a ride from someone else. Yeah that'll run you up quite a bit.
