I shamelessly use "bando" but I definitely use it in a very specific way. When I pass an abandoned building or something I will identify it by yelling "Bando!" And pointing at it. Otherwise, I dont really use it for anything else. Its a fun word to holler out but not something I can say in a serious sentence. "There a bando nuke plant im gonna check out." In a sentence it sounds stupid haha.

But hell, road trip bando yelling is awesome and I am utterly shameless with it.

Bando, Urbex = NAY

I'd rather use the term 'derp' or simply 'abandoned building'.

Would use 'bando' in a humoristic way, with people who can understand the sarcasm here.

The term 'urbex' makes me cringe, so instead I'd say 'exploring', 'urban exploration', or UE.

As long as no one starts saying "amazeballs" we should all be ok.

On a slightly more serious note, though, Steed, I wonder if it's just an evolution of language? Like so many other words over the last 5-10 years. With technology the way it is and we all kinda speak in short form anyway, maybe this is just one of those examples?

A Danger Call is a keyword verbally said to alert your team/group to evacuate the area from present identified danger(LEO MOS SEC Bums Junkies etc)

Example: The keyword used by our team is "NER!" because its easy to remember and quick to say

Ryan: Hold position!

Carter: Holding.

Ryan: SHOOTER 12! NER!

hahahaha I can't believe this triggered a poll and it's own post!

I use it jokingly, and think it sounds stupid!

We need a volunteer to see what happens if you say to a cop who's considering to arrest you or not.
We need someone who is comfortable with the term to see how it's perceived by LEOs...
you know, in the interest of science.

Edit: Sounded to serious. Read with teenage angst in mind.

My only attitude towards it is meh.

There is no evidence that the particular photonic sounds and/or graphemes we assign to the meanings and concepts we attempt to convey through linguistics are anything but assigned arbitrarily and maintained through convenience. Thus, there is no reason to believe that any particular word can be intrinsically more or less stupid or valid than any other word as long as it maintains its convenience. This convenience being the ability to convey concepts or ideas without confusion.

Therefore, as long as both the speaker and listener understand "Bando" to refer to the same entity, it is just as valid as the most valid of words.

I personally don't use it, however, as I have no need to prefer it over abandonment, which has already cemented itself in my vocabulary.

I've read the comments and given this about 60 seconds of thought and decided... I don't really care that much about the word. I don't think I've ever used the word 'bando,' and there's a pretty decent chance I never will.

I'm also impressed that no one has missed their auto-spell check correction yet said something about "band," lol. Damn auto correct.

Bando? Um, no.

Hell, I'm not even comfortable with the term "exploration". Exploring is what the guys who made it into the history books do. I just like to fuck around checking shit out with disdain for authority and maybe some beers. Call me Moderate Ed.

like calling people you explore with a "crew" to sound more hardcore

Or a Clan to sound extremely softcore.

Or Scottish.

To me, the word comes mainly from the FPV community and I do agree that it is easily overused and sounds stupid when yelled at the top of one's lungs. This being said, I won't look down on somebody for using it every once in a while, having done so myself.

This is more accurate than you might think. After all somebody built those buildings, worked their careers in those buildings, its not like we are Lewis and Clark. From now on Im not going to explore anything but I am going to "UER the Hell out some bandos"
