if you reference this thread and look at his comment from a few months back it seems the story is exaggerated and he wasn't actually shot at. #LiesUERToldMe

Hi so my lady and I visited the hotel a few weekends ago. Everything was quite and we had no problems. CAUTION: some young man was shooting a rifle towards the hotel as we were leaving. I raided my hand and he raised his and then lowered his rifle. Aside from that we had a great experience.

bump.
Tagged & bagged. Lame as it gets.
Two408wonderers, great timing on your part to post this bs story thread too. I for one hope you don't get your FM.
Your images aren't squared up any better than your candor; both are skewed.

So you're sticking with your -2- different stories of the same event?
There are people here who have been shot at and some that been hit.
Being shot at isn't a joke nor is spreading bum info.
RescueMe1060 posted a valid comment and concern on your oversights, for which you have no retort. I think he deserves an answer...

Thanks for the sleuthing. Was hoping this would be different than it looked.

@408wanderers: We are very chill folks here, but we don't like liars. Especially when it's about such a well known spot.

Not really sure why you would say we are potentially lying about this spot. Our explore was very pleasant until the end as we were leaving. We post urban exploring in a positive manner. We have posted our photos, maybe you could please post some here as well. We would like more photos of other people's experiences here as well

believe me, depending on distance and what type of rifle round was fired you will generally hear the bullet "go whizzing by" before you hear the "gunshot" or simultaneously if its close range

most modern ammunition is significantly faster than sound, exceptions of course .300 blackout, sub-sonic pistol cartridges etc. ricochets notwithstanding

It has been noted by several explorers whom have totally gained my trust, respect and sense of legitimacy that caretakers past and present shoot trespassers at Byron Hot Springs. But with rocksalt. You can search THIS forum for these notes.

I searched all the way back to 2006, and I found numerous times where explorers had run ins with the different groundskeepers who have watched over the place. The truly scary story was one where there was a woman screaming, as a guy was firing a shotgun. O.o

All of the other stories were just coincidental gunshots that occurred while they were exploring, and a single time where there were some kids out there hunting squirrels with an older gentleman. All of the instances that were noted were basically just the ranchers or caretakers shooting varmints.

It's not that there haven't been instances where there was gun-related contact here. The issue is that it seems that the parties in question altered a previous story for the sake of attention. Which is odd, since they seem to find pretty decent spots and are very active explorers.

At any rate, I've devoted way too many brain cells to this endeavor. If they were shot at, I'm glad they're safe. If they just exaggerated it for the sake of attention, I can't really prove them wrong either way and they still seem pretty decent all in all.
