Byron and one ANGRY GROUNDS KEEPER

My lady and I visited this popular urban exploration site. The hotel was very very amazing and my lady captured interesting p.o.v of several different rooms and floors. we were unable to access the roof on the other hand. BE CAREFUL OF THE GROUNDS KEEPER. as we were leaving we heard a gun shot and a whizzing by us! We looked to the palm trees by the vineyard hill and some guy walked out from hiding with a large rifle. he didnt fire again but that was good enough for us. We have plentiful photos from our visit but dont plan on returning for some time lol 1.

I'm having a difficult time believing that someone discharged a rifle at you from long distance just b/c you were looking around at this spot. Its entirely possible, yes. But I just don't believe that would happen at this very well known, often explored/videotaped/drone fly over location. And if so, why wasn't a police report filed?

Hi there and thank you for the warm welcome so whether you believe this or not is entirely up to you. We are just urban explorers and felt like this needed to be put out there so other explorers can be aware. We don't want anything to happen to anyone. We had a great time aside from that. So I'm not to sure why you would ask why no police report was taken. Your a seasoned explorer by the looks of your profile. First off there are "no trespassing", "you are being recorded" signs throughout the complex. Why would someone who is trespassing on someone else's land call the cops on someone who is discharging weapons on their own land just doesn't make sense.

I know an UEer on FB that had this happen just yesterday in PA. He did file a police report, too.

Some people are flippin nuts, imo.

Well, for the sake of optimism I'll say welcome, and glad you didn't get shot : )

It does seem strange that someone would take up defending Byron Hot Springs now, since it's 100% covered in graffiti. Maybe you had a run in with a crazed drifter or meth lab technician.

Possible, but he would need a good shotgun.

We're not sure or familiar with the past or current status of the land the hotel rests on. All we know was that we went there to explore, spent a good hour or two there with out a hitch. Don't get me wrong it's a really chill place and a good one at that. Yea just when you see someone shooting then that kind of ruined the possibility of a return visit.

bump!

Yeah, I'm not buying this one bit.

For you to hear a shot go "whizzing by" it have to be very close traveling at or beyond the speed of sound. Trespassing in CA in a open site like that doesn't look like a justifiable shoot. I would have called the cops and filed if someone put a bullet a couple inches from my head there especially if I had my girlfriend with me!

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
