Random Car Musings
< on 4/18/2015 3:04 AM >
Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
A thread for all those random thoughts you have about your car, cars you want to buy, cars you see, etc.

Today's thought: Holy fuck I love my car. Gave it a detail after work, and despite it being an 03 with 520,000km on the clock...I still turn around every time I park it and gaze back at it. I love my car.

Operation notch fill, as my current hood is about 50% bondo, 30%, and 20% hood.

Steel shaped and welded in, no pic but I also threw a layer of body filler on the underside to seal/make it feel a bit more uniform....will be sanding/shaping/etc next week.

why not just order a new hood or find a replacement hood in a salvage yard?

That is a salvaged hood, I have a badgeless grill in there that I think looks silly with the notch from the VW left intact.

That's probably why. If it was an ALH it would probably go pretty quickly.

The 24v VR6 GLI came home on Saturday....with even more problems than it went into storage with. Regardless, I'm still taking it to work tomorrow....power steering or not. I forgot how much go that car has, and after a winter of driving my ALH, I stomped on it and VROOOOOOOOOOM!

What are you building?

I think the VR6 needs more dash lights.

my Subaru has quite a festival of lights going on as well, ABS warning light, BRAKE warning light, CHECK ENGINE light, SECURITY light that comes and goes... it's actually quite festive in the dark.

Looks like quite the project if you're building it from the ground up!

Got my notch fill finished on the wagon's hood...now I just need to repair a couple of rust spots, and then figure out paint.

VR6 fender featured in the corner of the pic...in the garage and up on stands being fixed. The subframe has been nicely protected by a year of having power steering fluid puked all over it. Good thing I had a shower before going into the garage.

got the Subaru back yesterday... kind of nice to only have the ABS light lit. To change brakes, rotors, ebrake hardware and pads, and muffler/intermediate pipe was only $250 labor.
On the downside, we had to go get my nephews' old Jeep Liberty... sounds like it dropped a cylinder. Engine has got that deathrattle so I am taking him today to find a small pickup (or Subaru... lol)
