Turns out wet sanding is a terrible idea without gloves...I've been trying to scrape paint off of my hands for half an hour now, and I'm supposed to be somewhere in an hour...

However:

I would say it's not looking too shabby! I'm a bit surprised at how decent this is looking

This is probably one of the coolest things I've ever done.

Stay tuned for a new front end...

I'd like a second one to lower, etc. This one needs to stay stock or get raised for exploring/cottaging/general awesomeness. They just seem to hold their value...

This is the one that came off of it. It weighed approximately double what it should've due to all of the bondo in it.

I spend a lot of time out and about in the country, so it's not often I'm able to drive my car until the fuel light comes on (I'm picky about my diesel, and don't want to run it dry), but I had the opportunity to see how much I could get out of a tank since I had to cross the GTA this weekend.

Really not that bad for a 13 year old car with 550,000 and a psychotic automatic! The fuel light had just come on at this point, so I probably could've gotten the promised 1,000km/tank. It wasn't babied at all, and was a lot of 401 driving at about 120km/h so I also likely could've hit 1,000 if it was back road highway and didn't include a week of driving around the city.

I am so close to getting 500 miles out of a tank... last time I rode it down to the GET FUEL NOW, IDIOT! light, I was at 489 miles.

I did my best tank ever with my TDI a few weeks ago on my road trip- 1246 km. I was getting nervous at that point and couldn't find a diesel station.

6,100 km trip, not a hiccup from the car.

(It blew a power steering hose 2 days before I left, and ruptured an injector line the day after I got back. I'm okay with this.)

We went up tanking last weekend at the Casper Machine Gun Shoot. Was a kick in the pants to kick a little ass with these old girls again, especially at the 72nd anniversary of D-Day. We sent 32 rounds through the main gun on the tank this year! Figured id post up a few photos...

March:

A few days ago:

Fuuuuuuuuck. I've been avoiding this repair, but it looks like I'll have to refine those welding and body work skills soon. Ugh. I'm gonna lose the whole panel if it goes through another winter like that. The hood modification was one thing, but I have a feeling this is going to be less straightforward and be on a time limit as I daily the car. And it's probably much worse than what I can actually see.

This is where some jerk hit me a few years ago, and I bet that's how it started. The passenger side is fine, but this corner got scuffed when I was hit.

So, the wagon got rear-ended tonight. It took me an hour to even start feeling sore because I was so angry at the time.

That's the fucking THIRD TIME in 8 months it's been hit that I've seen. Second time in a fucking month!

What the fuck is going on with drivers lately? They're getting worse and worse.
