guy i work with has a newer Wrangler and he says its terrible in snow, even with new tires.
My friend Will had a 92 Wrangler and it was unstoppable.

Yesterday he got 33" Mickey Thompsons put on, so he should be a little better now.

damn, budda, are they SURE that you didn't tweak the body or subframe on that?? that car looks like it took a nasty lick to the front!

They said the frame rails are perfectly straight. The fender gaps didn't move, nor did the headlights. I find it a little hard to believe, but it seems an ideal impact, being dead center and all. We'll see how/when it all bolts together.

today's pic. It seems the new engine cradle went in ok.

I dunno. The thinking seems to be that a narrower tire would cut through the snow easier, but a wider tire has a larger contact patch, which equals more friction. I await the results of the double-blind clinical trials.

Yes, he has a 4, but no, we didn't re-gear anything. Should we? It had 31's before.

That can't be good on transmission reliability.

Here's today's pic. They've made some serious progress. Its interesting that they didnt even have to pull the fenders.

It has 4.11 factory gears. He would vastly enjoy driving it on highways and probably get a couple more mpg's in the process. Plus the drivetrain would thank you. I wouldn't go past 31's at the max on stock gearing.

Nah just because I drive VTEC doen't mean I'm all of a sudden a complete chav. In fact now that I'm driving their dream car, one of my favorite things is shitting on it.

Them- "Dude you got the SI? THATS BADASS! Got any mods done?"
Me- "No why the fuck would I do that, its the slowest car ever. Its like a 4 door weed whacker."

Watch their heads explode every time. I do want some new wheels though. The stock SI ones are kinda ugly. None of that tuner shit though. I'm thinking those cheap black steelies that are usually covered with hubcaps, or some 90s Civic rims. Something cheap, simple, without all that "Hey look at me" shit that gets stolen.

Speaking of wheels, wheels!

Actually I asked him about this last night and he said the new axle he got is actually 4.56. Now, though, it stalls when he tries to back up. He replaced the crankshaft position sensor, but that doesn't seem to have helped.

i used to enjoy laying massacres to the big wing and fart cannon crowd with my very unassuming Cobalt SS. Mine didn't even have the ridiculous wing. Very unassuming, very sleeperish, even with the stripes.

What's funny is my Cruze is pretty pokey... it's 140hp, but that's really nothing to get excited about. However, the other night (two nights ago for the actually-factually of this group) a Subaru Impreza RS (the one that's not a WRX but is trying to look the part) got beat (yes, terminated... at least to 105mph) by my gramma Cruze. As luck would have it we both ended up at Shitmart and the guy wouldn't even look over at me (I of course parked two spots down from him). All I could think was, it's a 9 year old Subaru with a gazillion miles on it. A fart can, swanky set of wheels and a WRX wing aren't going to cut it."

Other than that, there is no joy in my vehicular life.

I haven't witnessed it, so I don't know for sure, but I think it just cuts out. Here's the JF thread:

Awww yeah. Tuesday. I can't wait to get out of this rental. I'm so sick of this goddamn Dodge Charger. What a horrible car. I've driven beaters with 220k miles with better transmissions.

the Chrysler 200 i had as a loaner in September was fucking awful like that. It was as if the engine and transmission couldn't agree on what was going on and were always fighting each other.

Right. It's awful. This car has only 8,000 miles, and the trans is just wobbly. And very you'll accelerate with the engine holding a static RPM like a CVT, but it's not. That can't be good. And to think I almost bought a Dart.
