not the CJ's, Wranglers or Cherokee sports... I'm talking about the lame ass Compass, Commander, and all the other poser mobiles that have a Jeep emblem hung on them. They went from being a go-anywhere rugged beast to a punchline.

Surely not the Liberty!

Ironically, my brother just bought a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited for his 16 year old son for the sum of $1500- 166,000 miles on the clock.

Get one with a manual tranny if you can. They've had trouble with the automatics.
I have a manual, and it's been perfect. Should hit 100k this weekend.

this is the automatic, FULLY loaded. It's been flopped on it's side once in a snowbank, but it's just a dimple in the p.s. quarter panel and the hatchback... I'm not going to tell my uber macho redneck brother that there is a gay pride decal on the back of the car.
i think i'll him figure that one out on his own. ;)

Regardless of its looks, its still a very capable Jeep from what I have read. And Bandi, the standard motor is Inline and is more faithful than VW, which last I checked requires antifreeze and there's a motor in the front?

It looks like a Nissan Juke and if that inline six doesn't destroy your air filter with blowby in 30 seconds flat, it's not a fucking Jeep.

VW would still be selling aircooled cars if emission laws hadn't become so strict. That's why they built them up until 10 years ago.

1998-2010 Chrysler is probably the most embarrassing period of any car manufacturer ever.

Me too since I own my 2000 2500. Still like it quite a bit and wouldnt trade it for anything other than a new one. Fighting cheap plastic bullshit now though, every fucking piece of plastic inside the cab is failing and cracking.

Just ordered new rear door panels, new dashboard, new instrument bezel, cup holder assembly, and a new glove box. WTF was the materials engineer thinking? Had to do something since I am allergic to getting shards of plastic embedded in my eyes during an accident...
