I'm not a Range Rover guy, but I found this and thought it was interesting. I never realized tandem rear axle conversions were so popular.

And at times, pretty ridiculous.

THE FUTURE IS NOW. Betamax, bitches!!!

I like this though.

I've always wanted a range rover but due to there fuel mileage and terrible reliability I don't think I can bring myself to buy one. I just love the idea behind them.

I've never driven one that didn't have some serious problem, but yeah, the idea is cool.

I actually put tires on a fellows truck that runs tours in south Africa with land rovers, he says a lot of safari company's don't use range rovers due to reliability and part costs. He and his gf are currently living out of his Land rover and touring the country for two years, his website is landcruiserquests.com super nice people and I even got a picture with them on there site.

One of the guys in our SAR group runs an Land Rover Service Shop (www.columbiarovers.net) and he even admits, its cheaper to own a Jeep and the Land Rover is for the rich guy who goes off-road once a year. The one thing I don't understand is Land Rover axles, but my understanding is now the Land Rover enthusiast will "upgrade" their axles with Toyota axles...

I never got that either. I have a buddy with an older range rover. The shafts and ring pinion in that thing are gargantuan. Maybe it's an aftermarket thing.

The only notable Range Rover conversion I've seen involved a Rover P5 Coupe body and Range Rover running gear. It was totally awesome.

Built for Prue Acton's son I think... Neko.

I think it'd be worth the money to import one. The hilux is certifiably indestructible.

I love when they put it on the beach and let the tide come in, and dig it out of the sand and it still runs.

I have wanted to import one for a very long time. Last year of Solid axle is 1997 overseas. Be sweet to have the newer truck, Turbo Diesel, and the solid axle without importing only parts.

Some day I will import one but the closest place to get one is south of Mexico...(yes I have looked into it lol)
