Ugly new cars

Anyone else getting tired of the endless attempts to make cars look menacing and fierce. Jesus, give me a break. Just saw the latest Hyundai. Audi, BMW, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai seem to be leading. Not saying all their models look bad, but look at this thing.

The irony, one tap from a 50's to mid 80's car with a real chrome!! bumper would shatter the plastic of these poser mobiles grills and scatter the pieces like shrapnel.

I like an understated sleeper. Like a 70's Dodge Dart or Plymouth Valiant, with a 340 in it. BMW did this years ago with good performing sport sedans. Now maybe VW is doing it best with Jettas and similar cars.

It looks uglier in some other photos, couldn't find the one that set me off on this rant

thats not entirely true. One tap and the bumper flexes enough that no damage shows. While your sexy chrome may have a dent or nothing at all

Get over it though, cars will never look like the 70s or 80s again. And the ones that do come back to be "similar" very rarely are (just look at that hideous thing they call the Camaro). And theres a good reason for it. they were too large (as many cars today) and had terrible aerodynamics (and weight)

This is a grab image of the sidebar ad for the Elantra that prompted the post. I can only see a stuffed angry mouth that's bitten off more than it can chew. Have not seen an uglier car is a long time. I'm only talking about the front end, the trunk may be art. The i30 looks much better when compared.

Modern auto technology is nothing less than amazing. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, and there's enough choices for all. I like good design and reliable cars from all years and makes. Some of the ugliest cars were the tailfin era of the late 50's early 60's. That's part of the reason the VW Beetle did so well; a statement against the moronic attempts to outdo each other. I see that happening now with the ugly grills. If a super car has a menacing get out of my way look, Lambo, Ferrari etc. at least it can back it up.

True, modern dent resistant bumpers can take a small tap and bounce back. Pontiac did this first in a production vehicle with the rubber nose in the Firebird? Or maybe Sky Hawk. Also the panels in Lumina Minivan, Saturn etc.

The Juke is ugly, but the Beetle was considered ugly at first. The Juke seems styled after a pug dog. This will appeal to some people. At least it's not trying to convince us how tough it is.

I think the new Kias are some of the nicer looking vehicles on the road. No I didn't say they were good. But the Forte Koup? That's a nice looking car. Looks better than anything Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Dodge, Ford or Chev have to offer, that's for sure. (Ok, it looks nicer than the 2011+ Jetta as well.)

I'm just gonna leave this here:

They used to make some of the most attractive cars on the road. Now they can't make anything that isn't offensive.

Also, the new Civic? What the fuck did the model it after, a 4 year old Corolla?

Other cars that I hate the look of:
Chevy Sonic. The front end is making a face like it just ate soap.
Buick Rendezvous. Just ew.
Dodge Caliber. There's nothing likeable about it. They're at least starting to rot out around here.
Nissan Juke - Yep
Nisan Murano - Yep
Nissan Leaf - Yep
Nissan 370Z - I HATE THE MISSING CORNERS OUT OF THE LIGHTS
Nissan Altima - Same weird light issues. Maybe they'll add fins and spikes to make it look more ridiculous than the juke
GMC Acadia - Ew
Ford Flex - Looks like a tupperware containter
Chrysler ANYTHING from whenever the 300C came out. White trash gangstas are just flocking to these mass produced lumps. The new 200C convertible looks like a 12 year old Sebring. Which looked like shit 12 years ago.
Dodge Dart- It's a '97 Escort Sedan
Current Mitsubishi Eclipse- Has a wicked ghetto booty
Honda Accord Crosstour- WHAT THE FUCK?
BMW X6- Ugh. A Honda Crosstour for double the price and just as much ugly.
Porsche Panamera- Looks like a carp. I'm ashamed of Porsche for this.
Mercedes B class - The German Caliber
Most current BMW cars excluding the 1 and 6 series. I'm sorry. I used to be a dedicated BMW owner and lover, but damn they make some ugly cars now.

Ugly cars that I like the look of:
Kia Soul
Nissan Cube
Hyundai VeraCruz
Porsche Cayenne

Look at that! A Solara Sebring Crosstour convertible!

Again, let me reiterate my utter hate for this car.

NOTHING can make this car look badass.
NOTHING can make this car look anything other than a goofy clown car.

Finally someone hates the Juke as much as me. People always argue that it's fast. I don't care. If you slap a turbo on a pile of donkey shit, it'll go fast too. And look more tasteful.

I get it, aggressive isnt needed for a family car basically.

And has anyone seen Nissans Murano convertable? Ugliest thing ever created.
I love the Juke, but then again I own a Soul so my opinion on whats ugly may not count

***Edit
For those that hate on the Juke, what is it exactly that you dont like. and lets not say the whole thing and just go off on it.
Im being serious here. For me, I hate the lights on the hood. Without those I think it would look alot better. Picture that black one above without thise ridiculous markers.

The shape is offensive. The lights are offensive. The way the lights contrast the shape is offensive. The missing chunks out of the taillights are offensive.

And yeah, the Nissan Murano convertible is hideous. I didn't think the Murano could be uglier, but they did it.

Oh, and the Nissan Armada is ugly, too. It's like the roof was an afterthought. Ditto with its double-the-price pretentious Infiniti twin.

Everything about the bodywork. I'm not even joking. Maybe what's underneath is decent, but that's like saying that maybe a piece of dog shit smells like peppermint.

I agree on those two. The whole premise of the Caliber pisses me off. You can only afford a small car but you want to look manly? Maybe grow some balls instead of putting ridiculous features on a subcompact car to try to make it look like a truck.

And the Panamera is just a travesty, even more of a blow to Porsche's purity than the Cayenne.

90% of new cars, you could take whatever badge they have on them and switch it for any other badge, and it wouldn't raise any eyebrows. If you debadged a new Jetta I think most people would guess it was a Corolla. Cars nowadays are soulless interchangeable curvy blobs of uninspired shit.

At least Hyundai stopped blatantly ripping off Honda and Mercedes and Toyota every time they designed a car.

oh those rears are nasty looking, the headlights I like. The way they contrast the body shape is actually why I like it

And I thought i saw the murano wrong at first and had to go to the dealer to be certain they actually produced that piece

I was behind some asshole at the Dunkin' drive thru the other day with a Nissan Armada. She had an Italia license plate, hit the fucking curb, was getting huge oreo cookie drinks for her grossly obese kids, and of course talking on her phone while ordering.

It was at that moment that I started hating Armadas.
