my pictures always look perfectly clear until I upload them, then once they're posted they look grainy..why?

because you are using either the AvGalleryCreator or "attach an image" button.
If you host your images somewhere else (such as flickr or imgur) then you wont have the problem. The uploader on the site compresses and shrinks your photos causing the ugly image quality flaws.

Sadly, even though I live only a few miles from this, I have only been in once. And I didn't get far as there was someone working inside. They've started work on the roof overhang. A few large windows have been installed, and already broken by local kids. I had the owners phone number a few years ago, and he seems ok with me spending some time in there with my camera.

Yeah man, I hear ya. I was there twice and neither time I was able to get into the perpendicular factory wing behind it. It was pretty empty when I went and I could imagine how gutted it must be now. It was still definitely worth a few hours shootin' and I have a sizeable collection of passable photos from my visits.

thanks for the help guys! yes I was using that image uploader, it was easier than hosting all my images someplace just for this site, however it would probably be worth is since as of now most of them are just on my iphone
(and yes, they were taken with the iphone)
