I've flown an airplane before but it was already up (so no landing or taking off for me).... I don't have a license and I'm not able to get it (no money). As for how I was able to fly the plane - I look kind of young - and there was a "young pilots" thing going on (the organization that has Harrison Ford as their spokesman) and they were giving free rides. I didn't know that they were also letting you fly them.....sad, I know, but c'mon. Free airplane ride beats sitting home playing video games! I can pass for 12 when I feel like it, apparently....

I've never had the privilege of flying a plane, and I've been PaX only once. That was on a medevac after sustaining trauma. I am however a flight buff, and fly online in simulations of the CRJ/Embraer variety. That count? : P

Posted by kevinns I don't fly, but next year I'll be legal to fix them. Well, avionics at least.
Awesome! What school are you enrolled at? I'm thinking about doing a two year stint at a local JC, and then transferring to the local Embry-Riddle campus. Then again, I'm thinking about getting into air traffic management, but that all depends on how well the AP/M spectrum pans out.

I did ground school 2 years ago.
Due to the cost of flight training, I've had to postpone getting my PPL. I want to have enough set aside so I can do 2-a-week lessions until I can get my rating. Idealy, I'd love my IFR rating also, but one step at a time.
EDIT: I've strongly considered doing the ATP program (www.atp.com). It is quite expensive, but you get a ton of ratings really fast, and I could use my GI benefits to pay for most of it.

Been a pilot since before I could drive legally. Not to say that I wasn't driving before I was licensed but Started flying when I was 7 and solo'd when I was 14. Still a private have had some pretty good times above 5280. Started jumping out of planes when I was 18 and got almost 300 jumps under my belt including some HALO and night jumps. Just wanted to say to all the others in this forum.

Well I thought I'd go ahead and be the jerk to post in a year-old thread. Whaddyawantfromme. I'm a closet pilot, it's true; I got my private license two years ago, and occasionally go out, but in general I find people to be too annoying with dumb questions to flaunt the fact.

You're officially, like, my favorite user here. AV8Bs are the sexiest thing since wings.
