Anyone else here pilots? Just want a head count so we can establish further threads. I am a licensed Private Pilot, started out when I was in high school flying out of Downtown St. Paul (Holman Field). I also am (formerly) a student of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota, figured that a career in the field was not what I wanted.

I'd like to be a pilot, but my grades in High School suck so much I dont think its gonna happen. I'm looking at being a Paramedic maybe, because my brother is a fire fighter.

I'm hoping to get my private license this summer, but it comes down more to the availability of money than time. I had wanted to fly commercially, but due to my crappy eyesight and mid 70's high school average, it's unlikely to happen.
As an alternative though, I've put some serious thought into becoming an aviation mechanic, so at least I'd still hopefully get to fly sometimes.

I can't afford to learn, but I'm applying for some scholarships that will put you through flight school.

I am licensed for gliders only, but have CF permits to fly helios, jet fighters, and heavy air. I somehow missed my private license.

Dad flew everything from J3,s Citabria, twins , Stearman biplane you name it. Floats are his addiction. He flew for an Adirondack bush service company for free, as he was friends for years with the "now deceased" owner. Nothing like kicking left rudder and "sliding into a small body of water. My dad never made any money flying (except for lowballing the firepatrol in his Cessna 180 tail dragger). He probably lost money on that one. He just loves to do it. Give him a Maule on floats and he's in heaven.

Private Pilot/Instrument rated, going to take my Commercial checkride in a couple weeks from now hopefully. I'm pretty much an aviation geek, and am trying to get a job in the aerospace industry.

Right on. If I had gone someplace other than UND for college, I probably would still be flying :/

Not licensed, but I have over 100 hours in gliders (~30 of them as an instructor) and am now in training for the airplane Private Pilot license. I'll have it before the summer, then I'll probably go ahead and take the glider pilot/commercial/instructor rating checkrides just because I have so much experience.
How can I have PIC and instructor hours if I'm not even licensed? Well, the Air Force lets you do funny things...
Within a year I'll be starting Air Force pilot training; not sure where yet but I'll probably be headed to Laughlin AFB or Moody AFB.

He must be that nutso that keeps calling the Academy complaining about the 'glider noise' waking him up. hehehe....
I kid....
Gliders are extremely good for training the principles of flight and fundamentals of airmanship. We have a really successful program here, at the busiest day-VFR-only airfield in the world. And the busiest airfield in the Air Force, period.
