we're about to get snow, mainly as a sidebar from Zeta as it plows its way across the mid-atlantic states. We're not get much, just a taste. South of us, in Albany and points south into the Hudson Valley, they're getting pimp-slapped with the white and fluffy.

This has been the first remotely mild late fall since I bought my house- we moved here on Oct. 31 2017, and I think it snowed non-stop from Nov 3rd till May. The winter after was the same, and the most recent winter was even worse (lots of snow until mid May).
This past November was the second nicest one I can remember in my life- the first was spent in Florida when I worked for the race team. Having said that, now it's finally cold out, and FUCK I HATE IT.

that's ok... for the past couple of days, i have been having headaches and just a malaise feel. So i do some sniffing around and have come to the conclusion that my furnace is not running right and backing up exhaust in the basement and the CO making its way into my room... my own fault, really. It hasn't been serviced in over two years, the exhaust duct that goes from boiler to chimney is rotten and moves away from the wall and the chimney, about 6" from the top is broken.
if I had to do all over again, I don't think i would ever buy a home. So now, scrambling to find a contractor to come and service the thing on short notice and trying to scrape the cash together to pay for it, two weeks before christmas.

Posted by bandi Fuck winter.
so far, we've spent $1600 on fuel oil and the electric bill that's coming is going to be breathtaking because we have been running two little electric heaters in the dining and living room.
fuck winter. 15 days of subzero weather, with 20 more on tap...

Yeah this cold stretch has been nuts. I've been comparing our temperature to other places, we've been colder than the Whitehorse, Yukon for a few days now. I've gone through 4 cords of firewood already, it's usually 3 for the whole winter.

furnace was running every five minutes... with the little electric heaters, it runs every eight to ten minutes. It's set on 68F... not like we have it set on 90F. It's the windows and insulation in this place... no storm windows, I didn't cover the in-wall AC... i never replaced the two storm doors on either end of the house and the insulating gas in the sliding glass door out on the deck is gone. The house needs about $6-10k worth of work... i don't have that kind of coin anymore. Shit, the deck at the other end of the house fell off the house... (facepalm)

Yup, I'm looking at snow on the ground right now. I hate living here, it's 6 months a year of crippling depression spent anxiously waiting for weather that doesn't 100% suck.

8-10 inches of snow last night, took the internet/cable tv out for 24hours. There is still snow on the ground and people are just fucking loony about it.
