Speaking of Manitoba...

Wrong Turn 4 was filmed at the Brandon Mental Health Care Centre. It looks like an amazing place to explore.

Does any of the old crew still get out on a regular basis? I'd love to see how you're all doing.

Hey, just because I turned 27 on Sunday does not mean I'm old!! But yes... we are still kicking around, at least I am. You just got PM us, and check out the "Weekend Blues" event.

Well its been long overdue for me to introduce myself. Long time lurker, never really did any exploring myself because I was too young and too busy.

Welcome!

Posted by big rudy
I went with a good friend of mine tonight for one of our first explorations. The only location we really knew of was the pit of death so we went to check it out. I think we ended up spending a couple hours there, going up both back stairwells to the top, through all the rooms, a quick in and out where they park there trucks. The only thing we couldnt figure out was how to get to the ground level area where the trucks would dump the garbage into the pit.

Interesting! The stairwell that leads to the roof / trucks was locked up last time I was there. <Edit>Well, not locked. It was tied shut with a rope. Would have been easy to cut, but I didn't want to make it tooooo obvious that I'd been there.</Edit> I wonder what's going on?

There's another location west of there that's easy to explore. It's on the same east/west street (starts with an L) but is west, almost to the end (a little before the bridge). They used to recycle batteries there. None of the doors are locked, and there's still cool stuff (though it's been largely trashed ).

Thanks! My mistake, that stairwell is still tied shut with a rope. I was refering to the back west stairwell (the one with a broken steps that goes straight to the top floor), and the back east side stairwell near the bathroom.

Edit: the area we couldnt get to was through the roped up door

The door that was covered by a metal sheet by the main entrance is still open, just with a bunch of garbage piled in front of the doorway (through there is the area where we saw all the trucks).

Im gonna have to go for a drive and check out the battery building, just itching to go exploring again.

There's a crane at rogers sugar and there were a couple guys in construction vests there today walking around. I never got to 'splore there, is this normal? I know there wasn't a crane before, not sure when it went up though.

Rogers was being used for like 20 years longer than the incinerator was right? Did (substantial) decay start before or after abandonment? Also any story on the hospital beds?

More pictures on the Flickr; anyone been here? Entry's easy, but there's asbestos and it looks gutted so isn't worth buying a mask just for this.

Hi guys. I'll be spending the weekend in Winnipeg and I would like to know if anyone is interested in exploring? Send me a private message if you are willing. We don't know each other yet? Well, it's not a problem for me.

Normally I'd love to, but it's a busy weekend for me.

Also, I don't know many cool places that are accessible right now.. kinda sad.

I am sure we will have other occasions to explore together in a near future. I come to Winnipeg regularly and I always bring my photography equipment..you never know when the opportunity presents itself, right? If any of you ever go to Brandon for whatever reason, let me know since I live nearby. I am sure there are places worth the drive in the area..I certainly hope so. I am going to check out a location tomorrow hoping I can get in and take a few nice pictures..we'll see.

Well had an interesting night exploring last week. TheJok3r, a friend of mine, and I hit up a few locations. Started out with the battery factory, then cruised around st james waiting for the incinerator to quiet down. A warning to the other members, the incinerator is pretty active right now, maybe spring cleaning lol.

Senrty, my apologies we couldnt work something out when you were in town.

Went scouting last night too, spent a couple hours driving around, following the rail tracks and hopping a few fences. Didnt find much that was interesting. One was just an old unused garage next to an active site.

Another was a 4 or 5 story white building, I wasnt able to find an entrance as all doors were secure and climbing a 7 foot corrugated metal fence is pretty damn hard haha.

The next was a very large industrial building spanning about a block that was quite clearly neglected and in decay. Alarm signs posted in several spots so from previous experiences Ive learned to not call there bluff.

Found a deserted school on my way home too, looked kind of interesting. Its weird, we spend a good portion of our time in school and trying to get out, yet there's still some urge to try and go inside.

Scoped out the big white building last night with TheJok3r, pretty sealed up and short of using a grapling hook theres not really a way to clime the fence. Hopefully we shall find a way to get inside and let you guys know how it goes.

Also, sorry for getting everyones hopes up about the school. After it was a school, they used it for some offices in the late 2000's. Then it sold to an unknow individual in 2010. Nothing seems to have happened since, and there is only one yard light always left on with a timer. So I'd say there is still hope
