I think the 60s building might be the white one we're talking about... name initials are DT? And I think I may have an easy way in

Just got a message from a building owner. I won't say which. He wasn't pleased about our activities. Apparently he (or somebody he knows) reads the forum.

I don't think anybody else here has been to the location, and I haven't really publicized it, but let this serve as a warning: people DO read this forum. Be conscientious of what kind of details you post! I was pretty vague in my posting, but they still managed to link it to me.

Fortunately, he's a cool guy. I'm sure things will turn out well. I really like him, and the location, and everything. In retrospect, I should have gotten permission in the first place. But, this has been a learning experience!

That's kinda cool that the owner watches the forums, too bad he doesn't actively participate. UEers for the most part stick to a fairly strict code of ethics. I know I'm not the only one either who's gone so far as to defend a site from vandalism.

If you're still here, why not orchestrate a legitimate viewing of your building? It would satisfy the member's curiosity, and you'd likely end up with people more or less "supervising" your site for unauthorized entry or vandalism.

This. I'm also a fan of the building and would love to get in there while it's down. I'm sure a good few of us have been there and supported it. Not saying that should warrant us getting a 'tour', but that would be really cool. Also, let's not forget:

I don't recommend going there, people actually care about the building, but that's just me.

I'm glad to know it's gonna re-open, in any case.

Hey everybody,

Awhile back, around Christmas, me, CG, and F426 explored a location in the Exchange. We used a broken window that's since been fixed. The place had no power, etc, at the time.

It turns out, the place wasn't abandoned, and they were (and are) actively repairing it. Somebody had broken in, and stolen a bunch of tools. I've been helping the owners figure out what happened (originally they'd accused me of stealing, but once they found out who I was they knew that wasn't the case).

I'm trying to do everything I can to help them out - they're friends of some of my close friends. It's really shitty that they lost valuable equipment.

So, just wondering, does anybody know anything about the situation? I don't want to name the location publicly, but it's a closed-down bar in the exchange. If anybody has any sort of information about what happened (who broke the window, who stole the tools, etc.), that'd be awesome.

Also, I know other explorers besides us had been there. Somebody had sat at one of the tables and had a beer. Whether they are the same ones who broke the window and took the tools, I don't know. But if anybody has information, please contact me.

And finally, please don't mess with the place! The owner is a cool guy, but he's had enough shit lately. If we could do something nice for him, that'd be awesome.

How public can this go? I know a lot of people who are also close to the place, should I bother asking them? Not saying they should publicly ask who did it or announce the incident, but I could ask a few people if they personally know anything about it.

It's already way more public than I'd like. Feel free to ask people. There's a half-decent chance they'll come back with my name, though, there's been a lot of mis-information and mis-understanding surrounding it. The people who matter (the owners) know the proper story, but before I talked to them there were a lot of accusations going around.

If they do come back with my name, I'd appreciate it if you'd correct them and explain what exploration is, and how we wouldn't break a window or steal.

haha love how they put in a quote from Undercity. Anyway, congrats on getting featured. Hoping this exposure of it is a good thing; thankfully we had a good voice representing explorers to give this a good bias.

Or maybe we shouldn't make it so public all the time?

Sometimes, it's good to keep it quiet. But sometimes, it's good to let people know that we aren't bad guys.

That's great. But did you run to them saying HEY GUYS IVE GOT A GREAT STORY! Or were they actively working on a piece on urban exploration, and you wanted them to get the right idea?

If it's anything but the latter, you're probably looking for attention and probably shouldn't have done that.

And another thing, iagox86, nothing personal but remember the post you very well requested to be removed because that's how they found you in the first place? That's what I'm talking about guys and gals... How about we start being more cautious all together? Another thing (which I have sometimes been guilty myself of) is "name" dropping, even if it is just someone's UER user name. I know we don't think about this but it just dawned on me. Saying stuff like, "me, R426 and...." and naming out every person that was there, isn't cool. I appreciate what you did to try and calm everything down but at the same time, I know I would be kinda skeptical about naming every other explorers that was at a place which I took it upon myself to show them. I think all of this could have been avoided if more caution was used. No hard feelings, a few lessons learned and a friendly remind to always be aware of our surroundings
