Me and a few friends have recently began UE. Im looking for any information or and tips, especially about finding locations. Also im wondering if its a normal thing in this community to share locations or ask other for locations. Thanks.

To answer your second question, no. Most explorers keep their cards close to their chests because we've all seen the destruction that can happen when everyone and their dog knows about a spot.

Instead, learn how to do your own research- go here and scrolls down to "how to find locations," and use the information you find in those threads to find spots of your own! I promise it's so much more rewarding in the long run than just having spots handed to you, and explorers who can do their own research are far more respected in the community than those who ride the coattails of others.

I have a lot of explorer friends in the Fox Valley area, so you definitely aren't alone.

Like Aran said, asking for locations and sharing locations in public forums is generally considered bad tact.

There are many great resources online with tips and guidance on getting started with exploring. One resource that helped me when I first got into exploring was the website infiltration.org, created by the late Ninjalicious. His excellent book "Access All Areas" is also a great primer with helpful information for people new to the hobby of urban exploration. I strongly recommend it.

My general advice would be to travel around to industrial areas looking for anything that looks abandoned or run down. You might need to travel out of your local area to accomplish that sometimes. A lot of the Appleton/Fox Valley people I know travel to other states frequently.

I hope that helps!

If you want a resource to find new locations, there's a massive database of old, 'historic' locations in Wisconsin that you can look through. There are options to specify by county, by historic usage, and by specific locale. Whenever I look through this database I make sure to scroll down the page of every abandoned place I find and see if the location is marked on a historic register. If not, it's probably good to go. Each page lists 20 locations, so you'll be scrolling for a while.

The addresses for places on this database are a little finicky, so sometimes if you get a place like "W3823 County Highway W" and it doesn't come up on google maps, switch the words around a little and search "W3823 County Rd W" instead.
When looking on google maps, make sure the address corresponds to the city or village specified in the record. And, by the way, I advise against specifying a big city for the locale. If you're looking for rural locations, you won't find anything by selecting 'Green Bay' or 'Appleton'.

One last thing: this database mainly lists non-abandoned places, so 95% of the locations are likely not abandoned. If you find a location that appears abandoned scroll down and ensure that the building status 'Demolished' is marked as 'No'.

And, of course, a reminder to respect the land and its owners if you do end up going to any location you find on this database.

Here's the link:

Hope this helped!
