If you want a resource to find new locations, there's a massive database of old, 'historic' locations in Wisconsin that you can look through. There are options to specify by county, by historic usage, and by specific locale. Whenever I look through this database I make sure to scroll down the page of every abandoned place I find and see if the location is marked on a
historic register. If not, it's probably good to go. Each page lists 20 locations, so you'll be scrolling for a while.
The addresses for places on this database are a little finicky, so sometimes if you get a place like "W3823 County Highway W" and it doesn't come up on google maps, switch the words around a little and search "W3823 County Rd W" instead.
When looking on google maps, make sure the address corresponds to the city or village specified in the record. And, by the way, I advise against specifying a big city for the locale. If you're looking for rural locations, you won't find anything by selecting 'Green Bay' or 'Appleton'.
One last thing: this database mainly lists non-abandoned places, so 95% of the locations are likely not abandoned. If you find a location that appears abandoned scroll down and ensure that the building status 'Demolished' is marked as 'No'.
And, of course, a reminder to respect the land and its owners if you do end up going to any location you find on this database.
