One weird one was a really old cabin in the middle of nowhere, didn't even have indoor plumbing. My friend and I had already explored the downstairs and were upstairs in different rooms talking back and forth.

We hear very heavy footsteps downstairs and shut up quickly. They clump across the floor sounding like a huge man in work boots. Then they stop at the foot of the stairs.
We waited to hear the expected, "Hey what are you girls doing ion here?" Or "Get out!" or something. But nothing...and no sound of the steps retreating.

So my friend is scared shitless but I was not about to sit up there forever, so I grab a piece of railing and sneak slowly down the stairs in case whoever it was is gonna be a threat.

No one was there.

Few weeks later I tell my usual urbex partner about it, and she wants to go, so we head out there even though I am not really wanting to. We get near the place and my car gets swarmed by crows, which I took as a sign to not go back.

Cool story!! In the mount royal cemetary, I had a similar experience. After sneaking in behind the crematorium, through the woods, the path comes out onto a street, into an area close to some old crypts.

The place is huge, inside of it you are completely immersed.I think around 1,5 million graves in all.

For some reason on this night, I am completely creeped out, cant shake it, hairs on the back of my neck are stiff, constant oppressive feeling. The worst thing is that I have visited cemetaries at night, many times before, never felt like this.

Finally i say fuck it and make my way out towards the path in the woods, then right at the opening I hear a huge car crash about 10 feet away from me. Outside the cemetary there is a road that passes close to that spot, that goes up mount royal.

I thought that was strange, but didnt think too much about it. So i start making my way down the path, then I felt pushed almost falling down a steep part in pitch black, had to catch a branch to stop from tumbling.

I keep walking all the way down to the road where I was park, feeling followed all the way down.

Once in my car I decide to go take a drive to the street where the accident was. When I get there, I see nothing, no accident, not even a dent in the gard rail.....It sounded like a huge crash, so was very surprised to see nothing.

This was at the second building I had ever explored way back in the day when I was still new to Urban exploring and I thought I was invincible. Exploring alone never really scared me as long as I knew I had an easy POE and Exit. But I was exploring an abandoned building that was far enough away from town that I figured no one else would be there and as I was standing in large room about to walk into the room next to it I heard foot steps. At that point in time I realized that not only was my cell phone batter percentage low but I also had told no one where I was going. Unfortunately the POE I had found was a giant crack in a wall I had to squeeze through and it was fairly high above the ground but I could hear the footsteps following me and so I had to run through the building, squeeze through the crack and quickly jump.

Lesson: Never go alone, always tell someone else where your going cause you could run into anyone or anything

Got a bit of a scare last night actually.

I went and explored some abandoned apartments with a couple of mates. We poked around the dark apartments for a bit. Most were empty but one had a bunch of stuff lying around like someone had left and couldn't be bothered taking it with them.

We didn't stay long as empty apartments aren't that interesting.

As we were leaving, I tried the buzzers for the apartments to see if they still worked. They did, and a voice called out "Hello!" in response. Scared the shit out of us.

The cheeky bastard must have been hiding there the whole time.

At least he didn't attack you. I stumbled on a bum nest in a high rise office building in downtown midland, tx. As soon as I walked in a guy grabbed me. I started swinging away with my tripod as I ran out with him chasing me.

Went roof exploring in the city around 2 am. The city was dead at that hour, no cars or people out, it was pretty eerie. I got to the top of a fire escape and made my way onto a roof. I was starting to enjoy my view until I heard a loud screeching, like one from an bird. It was a series of different noises and the echo of the empty city that made the hair on my neck stand. After it stopped I waited around for awhile and it started up again in the same sequence. Still don't know exactly what it is, my best guess is a noise meant to deter birds.

Let me in.

Thankfully no scary encounters with people/animals yet. Everyone I've met exploring has been pretty cool for the most part (except for the owners sometimes.) I was leading the group once and turned the corner to this. Had a mini heart attack before a good laugh at myself.

"They call him... the 'Dovahkin'."

But yeah, sometimes graffiti can be a bit unsettling in the depths of some long abandoned building. I've seen a few odd ones myself.

Well my story isnt necessarily scary but definitely interesting.. We recently spent a few days at the beach for spring break.. We drove by what looked like the start to an cabin, condo edition.. paved roads, and entrance that said the property was for sale and a no trespassing sign.. So myself, fiancé, sister and 3 kids decided to explore.. We decided to walk up from the beach side to avoid being seen and there were no trespassing signs on that side.. We walked thru till we found the only cabin.. It was fairly close to the entrance and main road.. But we had plenty of overgrowth so we weren't too worried. We explored for a while and it got really dark so we decided to head out. Just as we get to the end of the long drive that led to the cabin a damn truck pulls in thru the entrance. I booked it.. Mother of the year right.. We all just scattered and ran.. I hauled ass for the back of the building and hid in all the overgrowth. My sister and one daughter followed me.. I had no clue where the other 3 went.. The truck pulls right up, leaves all its lights on and we hear several people walking around.. My daughter is pissed at this point, saying this is all my fault.. This went on for what felt like forever and next thing we know we hear my genius of a fiancé being found.. Apparently he gave one of the guys a scare of a lifetime because he found the genius in a dark corner sandwiched between 2 kids.. I can only imagine what that looked like to an outsider.. So once we assessed that it was safe to come out of hiding, myself, and the 2 with me came out and scared a very large man so bad he screamed like a teenage girl.. Turned out they were just checking the place out like we were but I can't help but wonder what went thru that mans head when he found a grown ass man in a kid sandwich in that dark corner in the bathroom!! I was scared shitless, I had no idea I could run that fast anymore.. But it turned out to be a hilarious experience..

A guy walked into a house we thought we were alone in and pulled a gun on my friend, he was waving it around not pointing it directly at her, but being very threatening. He was wearing a gas mask and didn't see me behind him. I always carry a bowie knife and was about to use it on the back of his neck.

Someone shot him right in the side of the head with a paintball though and i realized his gun was fake too (a paintball pistol? never seen one before.) He shot back at the guy and sure enough this thing that still looked like a glock to me as far as i know about guns (which isn't much) was firing out paintballs.

You should add a link to the long version of this story. I would but I don't remember which thread it is on.
It was one that I didn't forget. Good stuff and (yikes!) close call.

... I remember thinking this would be an interesting place to hold a scary event or game, perhaps with clowns given the recent clown scare. Well two individuals shared my idea and from out of the trees emerged two people dressed as clowns. They probably just wanted to scare me, but they were running right at me and holding some metal rods so I assumed the worst. ..

I look forward to seeing you on YouTube sometime soon ;)

We get near the place and my car gets swarmed by crows, which I took as a sign to not go back.

I've never been a superstitious person, however, whenever I see crows or ravens I always take it as a sign. Once when I was stopped at a red light, at an empty intersection before a storm, the biggest raven I have ever seen lands on the utility box a couple feet away from my car and stares directly at me for the longest time, then flew away. I took this as a warning to get off the road pretty quick haha.
