The only time I would call would be if I was in trouble.. whether with it be with a transient, tagger, whatever. Not that I can't handle myself but being a female explorer...I have to protect myself. But that would be the only reason I would call.

That's about the only reason I'd call the police. Unless I found a body, or something that would jeopardize the safety of the area (I can't imagine what that would be besides a bomb or something). Locations are going to get vandalized and tagged; calling the cops on them would probably cause more problems for you than for the vandals.

Jeeeeesze... not!

I stopped a copper scrapper when I caught him destroying the copula at Pennhurst. Fuck that shit. I was there to shoot that, he ruined my shoot.
Got pics of him ripping down the copper panels, his truck and Vin number. End result; one less copper scrapper destroying roofs and a free pass to go the Pennhurst whenever I wanted to.

The damage that one person did was over $100k to spite my intervention. How can you compare that to trespassing and taking pictures? For the state cops it was a no brainer. They welcomed the help.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

I have never called the police so far, but I would if I felt I was in danger like a pp said, or if I thought someone else was. If I found a body. If there was a methlab. Someone was setting fire, or tearing apart a building.

I feel like I would call for most extreme situations. I wouldn't call on a tagger, or someone smoking weed, etc.

I was exploring a farm in Western Alberta, my camera was dead but I wanted to scout the place, I stepped inside to find a body, called the cops. it was a missing person from a nearby town that killed himself there.

Found a body and called the cops. Only reason I would call, other than if I was trapped/injured.

What about if you hear a baby crying?

I call the cops 3 weeks ago because of that. I was getting ready to go into this place and I hear that baby so freaking close to me, it definitely came from inside the property from a storage unit it's inside (I been into this place a couple times so I know What's on that building and it's completely unsafe, so what the hell is a baby doing in there) so I walk to the front of the property to meet the police over there (it's a 10 minute walk to the front of the property, no street so you can't go in a car) we walk (2 cops and me) After 15 minutes walking and searching the area we didn't found nothing (well one of the cop found 20 dollars and a bag of syringes)

If I heard a baby crying I would try to find it. I would probably call the police. People live in storage units here sometimes.
I've found a few things of diapers and formula in abandoned (nasty) houses. :/

You right, people used to live there but not any more. Is a lot of mattresses around the place but now are covered with mold, is mold everywhere.

So this weekend the wife and I had to leave town for her co-workers wedding, it was spur of the moment and no research was done for any exploring (I wasn't sure if we would have time) but the wife booking the hotel actually got us a good spot (this is *my* job, as I read LOTS of reviews and wasn't too sure about her pick at first lol) but anyways.

Heading to the wedding we passed what was an empty dog treat factory, it had the usual barb'd chain link fence and typical graffiti on the outside walls, we decided to check if out (in my $600 suit and her $500 dress like badass mofo's) we went inside briefly and decided to come back after wedding and a wardrobe change. Well upon coming back we noticed 2 cars outside where we originally parked, okay no big deal, just a few local explorers right? We walked in and IMMEDIATELY could smell fresh spray paint...the wife was extremely upset and I was trying to hold composure as you can imagine what it's like to walk in in some vandals

So we kept on, there was two buildings, one appeared to be the processing/packaging plant and the other maybe shipping/offices. We could hear the other people in the adjacent buildings making all kinds of ruckus, sounded like breaking glass/smashing and what not. Well we tried to ignore it but couldn't...it was too distracting not to mention destroying a beautiful sight AND possibly bringing the wrong attention. So we left (wife wanted to leave and I wanted to give these little rat bastards a good firm talking to) so this is where I'm in dismay....we called the cops on these little fuck sticks, wife called and said we saw some kids go inside and looked like they were up to no good.

Now here is where I am torn, I'm an explorer, we hate cops, we hate security, we hate all that is law and law enforcement. But c'mon! These kids get what they deserve amiright? Not only tagging but purposely vandalizing some beautiful history but probably doing more damage then God knows what! We posted up across the street non conspicuously and watched, 3 local rollers pulled up and started to walk the fence line but we had to dip shortly after so did not see any arrest.

Did I do the right thing? Am I a narc? Discuss.

Vandals and scrappers aren't explorers.
They are criminals destroying others property.
Rack em up.
Screw up my shoot... I'll mess with you bad.
Been there, done it.
Cops almost always treat me well, eventually if not sooner.
I have no issue with them.

In my opinion you did the wrong thing and karma will come back to bite you at some point. Tagging up an already tagged up stupid dog treat factory is hardly worthy of calling in the cops.

They were smashing stuff as well.
If the same people did that to your fav abandoned church?
One man's temple is another man's dog food factory.

How about if they torched the place because they're too stupid to know how to play with candles?
These people rarely confine themselves to one site...

That is exactly how I see it. And it wasn't even good graffiti, it was badly drawn dicks..and if they weren't smashing up shit I probably wouldn't of been able to hear them right?

Hard to say.

Yes, yes you are.

There is a lot of context left out here. Are there a lot of other tags already? Was it easy to get in? Any signs that anybody out there cares about the building? Calling the cops on a drunk driver or if you witness an assault is one thing. But calling them on a couple stupid kids hanging in a shitty factory? That seems like overkill. Could have just went up and told them you were the property owner and gave them a good scare.

Im guessing he thinks he is a good citizen that reports all crimes he sees, then hates the cops he called down on the bad citizens at the same time saving abandonments for all future generations

I love when people say they 'hate cops' but calls them to do something for them. Gets me every time. if you hate cops so much, handle it yourself.
