Do you prefer to have a good sized group with you? Maybe just one partner? Or perhaps you like exploring alone.

For me, I enjoy taking people along to explore with me. I have quite a few friends interested in UE so it is neat being able to share the experience with them. I will usually take between 1-3 people with me when I am exploring. While I am comfortable exploring alone when necessary, I will usually never go to a new location by myself.

This summer will be quite the challenge for me though. My friend who is a film major is directing a short film and because he knows I do urbex, asked me to be a location scout for his film and find a few abandoned locations to shoot scenes in. So I will have to figure out how to get 17 cast and crew members into a location safely and without being caught.

Anyway, how many do you guys normally bring with you?

I consider three people to be the best size most of the time.

Bringing 17 people to a location would be pretty tough unless everyone is being kept busy at all times.

Usually myself, or another, and on rare occasions 3 .

Usually one other person, sometimes two. But i go rooftopping alone because i dont really plan it often i just see an opputrtuinity and go for it.

Trust me they will be kept under constant watch the whole time. I've already told them if they start doing stupid stuff I'll make them leave. I've met with each of them though and they all seem like respectful people.

I try to explore with people and inviting them, but no one ever comes with me so I end up exploring by myself. If I do for some odd reason get someone, it's never more than 2 extra people. Too much attention.

+1 (x like 5,000,000) Seriously dude, do you think just saying 'hey get out' to someone who's being an asshat is going to work? Esp. when you have no jurisdiction over them? You aren't supposed to be at that location any more or less than (s)he is...


Either way, I usually explore with 1 - 3 other people. Large groups are a hassle and are way too hard to sneak into / out of places if it's needed.

I like going with one to two other people (sometimes three) to most places. Also never more than one person who has not explored before.

I usually travel with 1 other person, though I have gone in groups as large as 8, and it is kinda've a pain to coordinate. A pair or three people is best for me.

90% of the time with one other person. Keeping things simple is easiest.
I don't mind 2 other people (so 3 in total). Don't think I'd ever do a big group, unless it was a planned meetup with other explorers.

I'm almost always out with a +1. I'll poke around at something by myself if I happen to spot it when I'm out alone for some other reason, but usually just to scope it out and come back with a friend. That said, the pool of people with whom I share this hobby is pretty restricted... it's normally myself and my partner (a lot of why I like to come back with them to explore something I've found on my own is because we started doing this together and it's more fun to share). Sometimes three of us go out together; we've never been out as a foursome but it'll probably happen at some point. I very much doubt our group will ever get bigger than that though, it just seems impractical.

I really enjoy taking my UE time and spending it with my dad and my brother. My dad and I never got along growing up, and now that all three of us live in separate places, it's nice to have time to just chill together and spend the day exploring and finding new and (mildly) exciting places together. Since in Oklahoma a lot of our finds are old farm houses, there really isn't a downside to having more people to be seen.

When my father had his stroke a couple years ago, and we weren't sure how he was going to turn out (he's fine; no worries now), my brother and I looked very fondly on the times we three got to spend that time together.

Some of my favorite memories of my dad will be on UE trips.

In all seriousness now, one person does it for me.Take more than two in a risky place with bad acoustics and it's like you've got a goddamn marching band with you.
