They are the exact same site, just a different user interface. UER has the most features however there are a few different ways to view the content here:

UER Interface (most features)
Infiltration
Premium Members Only
UER Mobile

There is more history to it than that, but the above is your answer.

Not sure what you mean by the "taboo" part though?

I want to know the sad story.
For example there is a badge called Infiltration for making your own site and calling it Infiltration. What is up with that??

Do your homework. There is nothing taboo about Infiltration or Ninjalicious. From what I have gathered, Avatar-X and him pretty much made UE what it is today, both in their own ways.

Like JeepDave says: research and reading. Infiltration is more than just a way to get around the UER Xmas theme.

I've pieced together that infiltration was started by Ninjalicious. Ninjalicous has some relation to Avatar-X and early UER. It seems like ninjalicous and infiltration did something bad and wrote a book "access all areas" And then Ninjalicous died of cancer in 2005.

I don't get the full picture here. Have I uncovered some UER backstory or is there nothing actually of intrest?

Guidance appreciated.

You are looking at the two most influential people in UE... The book was actually well received and reviewed by people in the community. He was one of the first to set rules of trust and fellowship for the hobby, let alone give internal information on how to become a part of it yourself.

His site/book was seen as an important thing to establish the basics of the hobby and AV (owner of this site) agreed. The site remains as a tribute to his work and to further advance UE as a whole.

Again, I am not sure where you are finding the information that says that anything that Ninja did was bad in the view of the majority. Both UER and Infil are now one in the same with the common goal of spreading the great hobby we share to people that deserve to be included.

The community as it exist would likely not exist without ninjalicious. He brought a lot of people who just thought they were weird for liking old buildings together and formed a community of sorts. If not for him I wouldn't have many people in my life that I consider dear friends now. I'm not some artsy fartsy guy, not a photographer, just a trucker who likes abandoned worlds. Without his site I would never have guessed there were others like me.

So much this. Access All Areas is written with a kind of child-like wonderment that returns exploration to where it should reside: our curiosity about the spaces around us that often go overlooked. I never met Ninjalicious but his text turned me on to an activity that I can look forward to doing the rest of my life. If you think there is some kind of "bad" about Infiltration/UER, read the freaking book, it's wonderful and inspiring.

I have to say, none of this should have been hard to figure out. Almost all of it did happen in the era of the internet after all. It's forever.

Here's a different (probably not popular) point of view. Mainly different because the UE scene was already established in Australia before Infiltration or UER & only a small percentage of Australians ever needed to use either.

I think you all eventually would have got to the stage you are at now with or without Av & Ninj but they definitely sped things up a lot.

No one bothers making a UER style forums because UER is already here (or people start UE forums that fail or cater for a specific geographical area) however if UER wasn't here then something else would.

That just my opinion anyway.

I don't know AvatarX from a bar of soap, but I know he's put a lot of effort into this for a long time and that's a very rare thing to find in this scene. Ninj & Liz I had regular contact with & I spoke to Ninj a couple of times. He was the first non-Australian member of the Cave Clan.

Cheers,

Doug
