| | | Historic Toronto building destroyed Massive $2M blaze rips through family business By JONATHAN JENKINS, Toronto Sun A seven-alarm fire destroyed an historic building downtown this morning, turning three generations of one family’s memories into ashes. Damages are estimated at $2 million. Ontario Paint and Wallpaper had been on Queen St. east of Sherbourne since 1913, burst into flame shortly after 2 a.m. Firefighters were quickly on scene and managed to keep the flames from spreading to neighbouring shops. No one was seriously injured. A total of 45 fire trucks and 180 firefighters in total were called out to the scene. Queen St., including its street car lines, was shut down this morning. But despite the massive response, there was no chance to save the family business, consumed by flames that got into the basement. - With files from The Canadian Press
