Posted by 'Dukes Nite Eyez LED conversion for D cell maglites. Absolute garbage. I broke both my current xenon and the backup Krypton standard bulb for my 2d. Having loved the Nite Eyez products in the past I figured their 8 bucks vs 18 bucks for the 3 watt mag factory upgrade should be a no brainer. Wrong. This weak ass led puts out so little light it is pathetic. While well constructed the light output from a heavy light like this is ENTIRELY unacceptable. I have not yet tested the factory MAG Led's, but they better be a hell of a lot better than this bullshit. Or maybe I'm so used to the "day" light of incandescent, that I don't get it, but to me it sucks, no worth the 8 bucks. Especially for some shit made in China. The grip and clip rocks, the "anti roller " is great, The AA tail cap converter is great, but this thing, save your money. And for the record, I even tried installing two brand new batteries.Christ my AA mag puts out more light, and I've seen the Nite Eyez AA conversion, and it is pretty blinding, although not like the small tac lights powered by CR123's. Take it as you will. Don't say I never did nothing for ya!

The Nite-Ize for D sized Mag isn't meant to be very bright. Did you ever read the directions on the back? It says to put them in once the regular bulb starts dimming, and you will get more use out of batteries, or you'll get triple digit hours with new batteries.
The 3AA Minimag is incredibly bright compared to a regular Minimag even though its about 1.5 times longer. The battery life isn't that great, but you don't need more than 3 hours per set of batteries in the light. [last edit 9/21/2006 7:20 AM by Deuterium - edited 1 times]
