Were they pickled?

Either way, I wouldn't trust 'em.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Great googely moogely.

All the hours, all the work planting and harvesting, all that money spent on canning supplies....

If there's any honey in there it'd probably make some bitchin' mead. Honey doesn't go bad, and anything from the 70's is going to be pure wildflower honey from someone's own bee boxes.
Any sort of maple syrup should be fine as well unless there's fuzz growing on it, but even then you can heat it up and kill it.

Also, the only preserves I've ever found:

A few of the jars had mold (Visible) so I stayed away from those but the jams seemed to be all-right. I believe there was honey. I will have to go check it out again soon. This house is right next to a University Dorm so I know all of those jars will be busted soon!

If I were you I'd buy an ass of fancy crackers and go try all of the edible-looking stuff. Bonus points if you bring box wine.

Oh my god. OH MY GOD. That is one seriously bitchin' stash of cannery right there. Out of all the things I have seen and thought, "how could someone leave that behind?" that probably ranks at #1 or damn near it. Please, go rescue as much of it as you can possibly carry, if not to taste, to at least wash out the jars and pass them along to someone who can use them. I'd hate to see vintage canning jars get smashed by vandals.

I am surprised the jars are intact from the 70s. they are amazing and I LOVE those kind of old jars.
