I guess part of this building caught on fire in November. Structurally, the dome part is fine, it was the roof of the garage that was damaged.
Looks like the people just up and left as there was all sorts of detritus around.

These pictures are like a sad song. Someone put a lot of hope, love and devotion into that house, very sad that it no longer receives that.

But, ultimately, very good that you get to now take pictures! yay!

Which, btw, those photos are fun. Thanks for the little sparkle of imagination and feeling they incited into me

Neato!

The Geodesic home phase spanned such a short time that some of the remaining structures are on the National Register. While they were cheap and easy to build and cost-effective to heat, the shape was unpractical and its many seams leaked horrendously.

I'd always wondered about this house when I drove past it, so when I found out that it was abandoned, I had to explore it. I have more pics on my flickr of it.

I've got to get a look at this place after seeing your pictures. Hopefully the weather lightens up a bit over the weekend as there's a couple spots I want to get out to.

Very nice! I own a dome, and I always love seeing others.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.
