Child Soldiers of America < on 12/16/2010 4:32 PM >
insanebuslady, myself, and one of my non-exploring friends spent an afternoon in this beautiful old military academy. The school was started right after the civil war, and operated until the mid 1980's.
Also, this is my first set of note to be shot in RAW, as I aquired a nice big memory card. I'm never going back to jpg, you guys. RAW FTFW.

Posted by etyb Beautiful! 3, 7 and 8 are especially nice. I love the look of peeling paint, there's nothing quite like it.
#5 is very nice as well. What do you figure those were?
Thanks! #5 is a wall of old combination-lock mailboxes. They would have been loaded from the office behind, and accessed by the students in the hallway. I really liked the way the light was shining through.

That looks like a great place, and nice shots. Lots of great decay in there from the looks of your photos.
Once you go raw, and edit in raw, it's hard to ever look at photographing in jpg again. Raws do take up a lot of space though! Exploring the distance between points A & B.

I know this is a very old post, but as a newbie, I thought I'd go through the forums for my area and see what there was. Just wanted to say that I think these pictures are absolutely beautiful. My favorites are 2,5, and 8. I love the way the colors came out with the light. Amazing.

Posted by insanebuslady Don't know how this one passed by me but it did. This was one of my last trips here. The crazy Pentacost owner caught on and sealed it up pretty tight
:C
I'm glad we made it, then! I don't think I've seen quite the quality ambient light anywhere else in the year and a half since. That was a great trip, even if we did get busted at the other place! In places forgotten, tread where you will. -=- http://www.flickr.com/photos/avius/
