| | | HEY! MODERATOR SCUM! I see that now my posts have been branded with a different fake internet name, namely, "Max Action"! That ain't me! Max Action ain't even a real person, or a real name, so how DARE anybody force me to use the name? Fuck off! Seriously though, get that piece of shit off of there. If I don't want to be known as Max Action on this board, I have every right not to go around with some website name plastered across each fucking post. "Max Action" is a totally different assumed identity, and I find it LAME that anyone feels it's OK to make it my custom title. If you wanted people to be able to change their screen names so easily, why the fuck does it bother you that someone actually is willing to? BORING BORING BORING F- for Av

| | | Should I be able to determine my static user name? <Reply # 8 on 1/20/2004 8:11 PM >
| | | Av, the anal god on high, has decided that I can no longer change my name, since I "abused" the option, in his very sensitive eyes. Now, I'm OK with that. It's his board and all. All I ask is the right to determine what my new, static name will be, what my personal pic will be, what my sign will say, what URL my homepage will link to, etc. Av says I do not have this option, and has set my name to "Max Action" which is not a name I have used on this board for literally months. Leaving all other issues aside: is this fair? Should I be able to choose what info is displayed next to my posts, even if I cannot change it from now on?

| | | Yeah, I think you should have the chance to choose the name you'd like to stick with - as long as it's appropriate and not "Av Sucks Donkey Balls" or something like that. You should also be able to choose an appropriate sig and tagline and homepage before being locked in until you choose to close your account. Now, if you are not given that opportunity... >shrugs<... c'est la vie. C.

I was going to refrain, but... A cancer? IntalexturbochikoteO2=cancer Ne_Rob in Nazi-form= cancer Max Action= ?!? This IS Action Squad leader Max Action we're talking about here, not some 15 year-old kid spamming accounts here. One of THE most well-known figures in UE, probably second only to Ninjalicious. Is he irreverent, brash, unconventional, egregious, free-spoken, smart-ass? Yes on all counts. But is he also knowledgeable, hiliarious, interesting, etc.? Yes to those as well. Maybe I'm speaking from my own biases, after all I have met him and spent time in his house and explored with him, but the fact remains that Max-Remo-Azathoth-Aqua Dan or whatever the hell he wants to be known as makes this place more interesting and even more funny. *waves at Max*

| | | Sorry, but I don't respect someone just because they are "well-known". I used to respect Max Action because of this, because he was this big-name guy who seemed to be well-known. But he's been nothing but a fucking asshole on this board, and yes, he's been much much worse than Chikote/Intalex/whatever. He's been more abusive than Rob, he's been more annoying than the two of them put together. He's violated countless rules, has started a ton of useless threads, posts endless no-content posts. A cancer on this forum is the right term. Someone like Ninjalicious is a person to respect. He stays level-headed and doesn't let fame or fans go to his head. He's reasonable and respectful of other people. I respect Ninj very much.

| | | Review my post history, Av. Plenty of worthwhile contributions in there, admist the jokes, the fun, the screwing around. There is more to a messageboard than hard data content, Av. There is also a fun side, a human side, a community side, none of which you seem to know the first thing about. And how the hell can you justify charging that "fame has gone to my head," when I've done my level best for quite some time to ensure that most people don't even know who the hell I am? I don't LIKE being famous on here. I don't want people to kiss my ass. I want to be just some dude. That's why I'm fighting you to get the pseudonym "Max Action" removed, etc. I'm respectful of those who earn it. Most people on here other than you have done so. And they still get some ribbing and some shit from time to time, and laugh it off because they have a sense of humor, and are not crippled by insecurity. I'm just willing to have some goddamned FUN ... oftentimes at my own expense. It's easy to stay remote, removed, aloof, and god-like. You'd no doubt mistake it for "respect." Anyway, I did it for awhile, and I got BORED. I don't care about my fame, I don't care about my "UE God" reputation being tarnished by getting into arguments, posting fun silly shit, or arguing with some petty jerkoff about my account on some pretentious messageboard.
Moderators, speak up! Have I been a "cancer" you've had to deal with? Or even when you were deleting my "useless" posts, were you doing so with a smile?

Then again, this little feud stretches back a while, and I wouldn't expect you of all people to find Max to be the greatest person in the world, so I think that observation is in the eye of its beholder. I've met and explored with teh guy, so of course my opinion is just as biased in favor of him being a cool guy. Different perceptions of the same person I guess...one man's hero is another's scum-bag. *shrugs*
He's violated countless rules, has started a ton of useless threads, posts endless no-content posts. A cancer on this forum is the right term.

He's also been consistently a laugh-inducing machine, and has made many a contribution; his rambling post on the past, present, and future of UE being a favorite of mine. Of course, recently his posts have been about fighting it out with you, so that isn't an effective measure of his post quality.

As do I. But then again, you've met him in person. I've met Max in person, and haven't found him to snobbish or disrespectful of others, he certain wasn't to me, nor do I think "fame" as gone to his head at all. ~D [last edit 1/20/2004 8:58 PM by Downtown D-Low Brown - edited 1 times]

| | | People are always different in real life ... maybe Max is not so bad there. I don't know, I don't care. On here, he's caused me nothing but problems. I don't get paid to do this, I volunteer. I shouldn't have to deal with shit like Max. If it was entirely up to me, I'd just ban him. Remove the problem. Now, I have to work, in part to pay for this forum. Apparently Max has never cared about it enough to feel the need to donate to it's upkeep. I've already spent too much time dealing with this issue, I won't be spending any more. Things stay like they are. Max is on a very very thin line. If he steps over it, even just once, he's gone. Max: I suggest you re-read the rules and make sure you stay well within them.

| | | Max is a real mixed bag. I've always just disregarded his slightly more inane posts, because I know the quality he's capable of, and respect him as an explorer. Av is right that no matter someone's community "status" they should be expected to obey the same rules as everyone else, but I think we ought to be a least a little flexible on that score. Some of us (and in my opinion, this includes Max, as well as others like Ninj and Av) have contributed a lot to the community, and as such, I think they SHOULD be cut a little more slack to be themselves than the average Intalex/Chikote/misc. annoying forum-ite. One thing me and Av are of more or less equal minds on in this case is that names shouldn't be changed too often, it's confusing for the rest of us. I think perhaps limiting the number of times it can be done to an arbitrary number (say 4 times) would solve the problem. Then Max can change his name a few times before he settles on a final one. It's easy to argue that well-known people being cut a little more slack is unfair, but this is a social community, respect needs to be earned. I know for a fact that if Max showed up as a newbie and acted the way he does, Av would probably already have banned him. Max is still here because the strength of his accomplishments outweighs the fact that he is occaisionally annoying. My suggestions: Av: chill a bit. Max: Pick a freaking name, and post content-only for the next little while before easing back into your irreverant ways.
