Just found this site and I am completely blown away, I have been discovering more and more about the amazing people that share my love for abandoned places and things. I am a photographer, I moonlight as an office monkey, and have been in love with photographing abandonment for 11 years now. I live in the DC metro region and am lucky enough to have access to a lot of really great sites in Virginia and Southern Maryland. I would love to get together with people and explore and find new places. I've recently had a lot of luck on rt.3 around Tappahanock and along the Greenbrier River in West VA but want to branch out as I am trying to get a portfolio ready for an exhibition and also for grad school. Am planning a trip to the rust belt hopefully later this summer that will probably do a lot for my current portfolio so if anyone has suggestions for Indiana and Illinoise I would very much appreciate it.
Anyways I didn't want to lurk, and just thought it would be nice to introduce myself!

Thanks,
Meagan

Welcome Meagan!

I've heard there may be some meets in your area in the near future, so keep your eyes open for those. There are some phenomenal explorers and amazing sites in your area.

If you ever come to the western part of WV, let some of us know and we'll show you a few places.

And feel free to come to Spook 'n 'Splore this July if you're available! You'll get to meet people from several states there.

Thanks for the invite to the spook n splore, looks interesting. West Virginia certainly has a lot of houses and mines to explore.

I would like to get to Glenndale but haven't really tried to do anything with security so hopefully there will be a group going soon. I'd like to learn more about that, I hope one of these days to visit a Kirkbride while I still can. Been doing a lot of reasearch and it's so frustrating when I find out they keep getting torn down. Meh!
