|  | | | The following photos are from a historical survey commission by the Library of Congress of the Sloss No. 2 Iron Ore mine in Bessemer. The mine operated from the 1890s until the late 1940s. I have visited the site many times but alas cannot find my photos so I hope these will do. It is one of about six mines that dot red mountain through the bessemer area.

| | | | have you been to any of the mines in east roebuck? they imploded some of them, but there are still quite a few left open with rail systems and even a few old mining cars.
some of my friends and I filmed a hardy boys movie there for our english class in 8th grade. I miss alabama

Me and some friends filmed a short film caled the "Talisman" at the Sloss No. 2 mine for the local film scramble.
