| | | Move this, delete this, flame this, do what ever you want, but.. What the hell is going on here. im usually the squeaky wheel getting oiled by all the mods. Listen everyone, UER is a place to talk about Urban Exploration. At least it used to be. I like UER, but lately, even I cant be bothered to read anything in the public threads. all it is, is Av sucks, the mods suck, UER sucks.
Folks I know this sounds like the same old BS we hear everytime Howard stern get banned or fined but If you dont like it, no one makes you come here. I know UER is the biggest internet forum. but lets be honest, some of you have made it a lifestyle, And it shouldn't be. Urban exploration is a lifestyle, UER is a tool for urban exploration , its a big difference. The people who Live for UER need to stop, and the people that come here out of bordom to stir up shit need to stop. Things on UER should NEver be taken personal. you dont even know half these people, why take anything they say personal, and the ones you do know out of uer, I bet you have an Email or phone number to debate with them. Lately is been the what right do the mods have, The big question is what the hell right do we have. All av has to do is " right click , delete " and UER is gone. You know what , the mods should have the right to change your profile if they want to. THis is Av's server, bandwith, and time spent. the mods are his handpicked selection to keep it running all you and I are, is font and ideas, and if we were'nt here , someone else would take our place, and quickly. So what if the mods abuse power, dont like it, well move on, get all the contact from your UER friends, and either a start your own forum, ( they are quite easy to do), OR find another forum that suits your ideals, and personality.
Coming onto UER and bitching about what goes on, is like going to a friends house and starting a heated arguement about how you dont like the color they painted the inside You should be happy they even opened the door and let you in.

| | | I don't care what people say on UER... cause everytime I've met one of you in person, it was always a positive occasion. I call this "Firewall syndrome"... when people are behind the "firewall" of the internet, they will say anything they want... because they know that they are saying it to people they will "probably" never meet in real life, or won't get physical violence from at the time they say it. Basically, the internet enhances self-esteem about 78.9%. I know this, because in real life I am very quiet and I reserve my opinions. However, when I get online I'm very talkative and will give my opinion to anyone whos willing to listen (or not). Its a sad fact that the internet usually also brings out the worst in us.

| | | Of the people from this board that I've met in real life, which amounts to about 10 people, it has really helped to solidify the fact that on the Internet, everyone has the potential to be a complete asshole, whether they are that way in life or not. So, I really like the idea of having localized OPEX-style events each year. It definitely helps people respect each other online. I ran into Servo one night at our local asylum. He was up from Alabama, and we ran into him and a friend. Now, Servo had deleted one or two of my posts before, but I held no ill will towards him. However, after meeting him and talking to him for a few hours, I realized that he is really an awesome guy that is very intelligent, and takes a lot of his personal time to be a moderator only to have to put up with a bunch of whining children. I have a new found respect for moderators, Servo specifically, because I can now attach a personality with an online name. The same goes for Mark. Most of you have debated heatedly with Mark at some time or another on this forum, and some of you may dislike Mark. But after knowing Mark for about a year now, I'll tell you that he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and he would take a bullet for me if the situation arose.(okay, a .22 bullet maybe, not a .45 ) Point is, 99% of the time, we are all completely different people in real life. I'd venture to say that most people on this forum wouldn't say half the shit they type to another person's face in real life. Because there would be some dead sons-of-bitches if they did

| | | I agree whole heartedly. I've argued with most everyone here, especially mark, yet he and I have traded PM's and are civil outside opposing ideas in certain threads. I do however have a problem, like mike D. said, with people who don't agree with the community and DB setup. I would not have an exposure to other UE'ers if it weren't for this site and forum because of my location. tere are hardly any explorers out here and I want to socialize with people online. If you have your own community fine, we don't go to the UEA page or personal home pages and make demands, so why should anyone else make similar demands of Av and the uer?

| | | I don't get it; The people I have met have been fine folks; If you meet me I'm the same in real life, albeit a ,well no less sarcastic. The controversy on this site is just fun stuff. I talked to DJMalign on chat last night, and when it comes to politics, he's stalin and I'm Churchill, but when it comes right down to it we are both interested in the same stuff.. We had a nice conversation! Maybe its because I'm not so into the internet aspect of this but I really don't see what the big deal is. People should live in the goddamn present. The internet is just for memories.

| | | Bout time someone said it MD. I learned not to take the internet seriously years ago and it's done wonders for me. The internet is a tool that can help or hinder pretty much ANYTHING you do in your day to day life. one of the things it sure doesn't help can be communication. There's a lot in a hand gesture, a facial expression or tone of voice that is lost in plain text. Sarcastic comments made in jest can spark the flames of a glorious rivalry on the internet, the same that would spark maybe a snicker or smirk in person.

Thank you.. unfortunatly that's why I tend to stay very far away from forums on the regular, because people who you know shouldn't be important to you say whatever they want, just cause they think there cant be any reprecutions..

Mike, i have no problem with anyone in this gigantic group of ours, BUT, the issue at the cause of the recent flame war was deleted/modified comments and copyrighted pictures in the galleries. I am still pissed about some of my comments being removed, but i'll not say one more word . Out of courtesy though, the owner/moderators (or most of them) could have notified the owners of the pictures BEFORE modifying/deleting them, and the gallery comments, and allowed therm to edit/delete them themselves. There are Moderators here that have notified me about a comment, or picture being modified, or deleted, and i do appreciate that.

Not exactly. I'll come and I'll bitch, if bitching is what's needed. When I i visit a friend I'll rib him about the decor, but that's different. I've ribbed about the stupid snowman, but it's AV's decor, even though it's annoying as hell to see it float all over; this is AV's "house." He can have the irritating thing if he wants to. Even if it looks dumb the 24th time it wanders over my posts... It's his right. You see? I don't have to like his awkward little snowman in order to "visit" him. Now, if my friend ill treats me, while I visit him at his house, then we got another issue. This "keep silent cuz you're at somebody else's house" mentality don't cut it. So, while contributing to the forums/ldb here, if I perceive a slight on me, I'll bring it up. That's not necessarily bitching (though it could be). It's communicating. And that's always good.

| | | I second that notion Mike Dijital. When I realized people where getting pissed off at me, I just did what I'm doing now. I used to get on here to check UER every day. Now I only get on here every 2-5 days. I also drastically reduced my amount of posts on here. I realize not alot of people like me on this board but some do and you just have to find the good in people. Now the only reason i get on here is to look around at posts but mainly 90% just to look through the DB. The only actual "Important" contribution I make is showing the locations and my pictures in the DB. All of which I withhold the address after dealing with several people who said that I was tagging up the locations. Some people are dicks, but thats why I like to just ignore them. I am in to Urban Exploration for the fun, not to get on a website and bitch. The primary reason I think UER is here is so people can meet up, explore and show off their photos. Not start fights and complain. So lets use this site for that purpose.
