Proximity Print Works

Went and explored the old Proximity Printworks building in central NC a little while ago. This was well worth the drive.

The Factory opened in 1913 and consisted of nine buildings across 18 acres and is in the National Register of Historic Places. The Plant closed in 1977. It was once one of the largest denim-producing factories in the world.

1.) This is the first sight we saw after entering the factory. We knew instantly we were in for an adventure.

2.) An old large open room, where large machinery would have once been.

3.) A connecting hallway with a ladder to an observation area.

4.) This was taken about 10 feet before #3 before the hallway bends.

5.) A room with the roof caved in

6.) A very cool spiral staircase towards the end of an extremely large room, leading to another floor.

7.) This place was filled with tons of graffiti, some of which looks like it took a large amount of time to complete.

8.) An old bathroom, with a trough sink. (apologies for terrible lighting, this was before I picked up an external flash.)

9.) A Spotlight of light making its way through the ceiling created a pretty cool effect.

10.) My friend who went exploring with me.

11.) Another large dark room that would have once been full of machinery and employees.

12.) Same staircase from #6, just a different angle and a little more post-processing.

Thank you for checking out my collection!

#1 is awesome!! Beautiful shot!

Very nice set! I live about 15 minutes from here, went to explore it one day but didn't like seeing the cameras 'in use' near the front gate...they might not have even been active. Next time I'll have to find a nearby parking area, and walk the perimeter for a more discreet PoE. Did you have much difficulty? Anyway, thanks for sharing!

This place is an awesome easy explore! I have not been since they found a body a couple years ago. The plan is to develop proximity and mock Judson mill into retail/apartments just like revolution mill.
