This is a 7 story Masonic temple near LA. It was the headquarters for the LA county masons from the 20's - 60's.

This must have once been a fabulous lodge. Too bad there isn't more to see... Wonder where all the masons went.

I do have a few more. I didn't have a good camera with me at the time, I wish I had taken more pictures. This place was insane. There were two ballrooms, a room with a noose (which is apparently part of the masonic initiation), and 2 floors of rooms with hooks covering every wall. Most of it was too dark to take good pictures.

What an amazing building. I had a Grandfather who was a Mason and am so intrigued by their secrecy. If I didn't despise LA so much after living there, this might make it worth a trip *sigh* I hate LA! Thanks for sharing. Did you get any photos of the noose?

Temples and other houses of religion always make me wonder on why they were abandoned in the first place. Obviously there are probably political reasons, but it's still sad to think about. Then again, abandoned churches and temples and anything are always gorgeous.

Great shots!

This is awesome; just drove by this spot the other day and there's all kinds of construction crew ripping up the grounds and alleyway around it. Let's hope it's just the city working on pipes or something and that it doesn't spell the end for this location.
