| | | Hey, I'm new to the Northgate area of Seattle. I have no idea where to start, and I've been lurking for the past 3 days before I could actually post. From what I've read, there used to be a flour mill, but now it's a piece of crap? I know that nobody will tell me straight up where to go, but are there even any places in my area worth going to? The reason I want to start doing this is because when I read your posts and descriptions of places you go to, it really inspires me to try it on my own. And I really have no friends in the area besides one, and idk if he would do this with me. So if anyone would be willing to share ANYTHING at all, I would be a happy camper. Have a good one.

| | | If you want to just go somewhere fun (totally legal) go to fort casey on whidbey island. my favorite place is the communications center called the switchback. sometimes its locked though. maybe in the winter it is? its a room surrounded by a narrow walkway with occasional openings down by your feet. its perfect for the scaring the shit out of your friends. university of washington has hella tunnels under it but good luck with that. in the summer you can walk or bike through Snoqualmie train tunnel (no trains anymore and they close it in winter so you'll have to wait. if you like caves, try ape caves on mt. st helens. its a loooong lava tube cave. best done in the off season to avoid all the park people and tourists. It's got one hard part (an 8 foot lava fall) and a couple squeeze through parts. its fun.

It's kinda hard to go off season considering the snow.

no it's not. there's no snow in a cave and the off season isn't all snow.

| | | Thanks for the ideas. The only bad thing is that I lack transportation for longer distance sites. I don't drive, so I'd have to bike, walk, or bus it to a place.

| | | One of the more well known public spots on the east side is the Totem Lake Mall in Kirkland. The last time I stopped by it was still about 90% vacant, with phones ripped out, bathroom mirrors missing, and shops shuttered. http://www.flickr....72157622709194389/ This time of year there are probably a few more shops open for the holidays, and there's always talk of renovation, so you'll have to see for yourself.

| | | I'm all for it. there really isn't a reason we couldn't set up our own meet-up and see who we get to come. there were several places mentioned. if its anything to far out of the way we'll need to figure out transportation my car seats 5 comfortably 6-7 if you include trunk space...(kidding) if there are more people than that we'll need to find other people with modes of transportation. of course that's all irrelevant if people aren't interested.

| | | Used to do monthly meets. They were always fun. it is good to plan a chill place to head to after, but don't discuss the location here before the meet,
