What do you mean the rum is gone?!
| | Possible limited view for non-members? < on 1/24/2004 7:29 AM >
| | | Due to growth of this forum and other forums out there I had the idea that maybe things like the LDB shouldn't even be viewable without being a member to the site? I mean part of the major complaints are due to vandalism. The LDB while great for UErs is a goldmine for people who only want to cause damage. The only measure I've seen so far is that you can only view a certain amount of pictures. That doesn't stop anyone from viewing directions or addresses. Has this already been addressed at all? If it has what was the outcome of the discussion?

| | | This has been discussed a couple times in the past. As much as several people disagreed, the current setup was the outcome of the discussions.
So there I was, in this creepy old hallway... |

| | | It is best to not give real specific directions to places, just mention them, if one of us really wants to know where it is, we can e-mail and ask, that way it doesn't get out to vandals. Hey, everyone take care these next couple of days, really live it up, I had a premonition that something bad is going to happen, something really big. Asylunt

| | | With the removing of the info on the LDB for non-users, I saw alot more new user in the listing with 0 posting and only one or two days of presence. "You need to register to...." "No problem buddy: username: bob password: bobby" "good now I can know where the place is!"

? Are your premonitions usually right or usually wrong? Or are you just trying to scare people? [last edit 1/25/2004 1:16 AM by Servo - edited 1 times]

| | | When an unregistered user views the location DB, they will see only the photo galleries (max of 10 pics), description, and main picture. ALL of the other information is hidden. Try it yourself: Click logout, and then view the location DB. If a new user wants to go through the process of creating a new account, confirming their email, and waiting for a moderator to approve the account, that's fine with me. We're also still working on the admissions quiz, which will help prevent people who just want a quick fix. -av

| | | Ah well I just tried the logout and go to the LDB. Something like that is what I was thinking more or less. I guess since I'm always logged in it never dawned on me to try that to see what happens. Thanks much for the tipoff...glad to see that my concerns were already addressed well before I even thought about it.
