| | | Ideally something rugged, grippy, lightweight, comfortable, flexible, with lots of support and cushioning. As nothing that amazing exists as far as I know, try to find a shoe that suits the sort of movements you find yourself doing the most. If your landings are awesome or you tend not to jump/fall from heights, a light, flexible, grippy martial arts shoe (Fei Yue's are great) might be the way to go. If like me you like doing climby stuff and occasionally aborting from height, a nice grippy, well padded pair of Merrell's could suit. Really though, stepping out in non-specific footwear isn't the end of the world. Anything that's feels right and you dont mind ruining sooner rather than later is fine.

| | | Feiyues Good grip on all kinds of surfaces. Light and flexible Cheap It's the only thing I like to use aside from bare feet... I'm curious if anyone has used the Vibram FiveFingers for Parkour? Seems like it would be great but I have no idea.
| I've heard great things from the people who like to use them. It has been recommended that you progressively work your way down to thinner and thinner soles. I'd get them, but feiyues and barefoot is cheaper...
