Some advice to explorers thinking of heading north . . .

Make sure you use the 'buddy-system' when you are exploring abandoned DEW radar stations . . .
ALSO - remember which pocket you put the frigg'n keys in ! !

nice... was the last picture too graphic to post?

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

Explorers should also remember the "Urban Exploration and Weapons" thread.

If the man pictured would have remembered his 12 gauge, he would have himself a very nice new rug.

Hmm, While I agree that a 12 gauge would be effective I definitely prefer the sheer visceral thrill of boxing polar bears when we cross paths.

a twelve gage at close range would just annoy Mr. Polar Bear.
Polar bears may look cute and cuddly and make great Coke commercials, but they are the fiercest of the bear family, even more so than the kodiak or grizzly bear.

made for a good picture, though.

Er... Who was taking the pictures if not the man's buddy (as I surmise from the changing angles, it must be some guy, or maybe the dude is just a vacuous moron who set up two camcorders facing his truck for some reason)? I assume he was laughing his ass off at all this.

Oh, I'm sick of doing Japanese things. In jail they made us be in this dumb Kabuki play about the Forty Seven Ronin, and I wanted to be Oshi, but they made me Ori!

We were all parked near the river next to the abandoned Mid-Canada line (or McFill Fence line) radar station at Winisk, Ontario.
(19550's)
Along with us was 'Bob' who was a contract surveyor doing a job for DND.

Up the river bank come the biggest polar bear I've seen for years and starts chasing Bob around his truck all because he buried his keys in an inside pocket and could not get to it. (why lock something up in butt-f@rrk Ontario ? ?).

After we promptly pissed ourselves laughing from the safety of our truck, we threw someone's lunch out the window and took the bear away from Bob. Bob got back in and we waited for the next 45 minutes until the bear lost interest and went away before we could get back into the radar station.

(I dunno . . . could have happened ?)

The buddy system works great so long as you pick a buddy who's slower than you.

"you dont have to out run the bear, you just need to out run your buddy"

i would just teleport the bear to the sahara, or to an island in the middle of no where

They're smart, very fast, and extremely powerful. Not something to mess with, or kill for that matter; it's their home range, people are the invaders.

It amazes me that people think these creatures are "tame" and some even try to pet them. They're beautiful animals that deserve respect.

Scary/funny pics CopySix, wild stuff! Very cool!!!
Lock your truck Bob, aaa, a Polar Bear might try to steal it...
Too fucking funny.

Glad to hear no one, including the bear, were killed.
He got his lunch free that day, cold cuts, but he wanted a hot meal

Polar bears always look like they're smiling. It's hard to be intimidating when you have a goofy grin on your face.

Well they do find a way.

If I were in the arctic(or the Island) and found myslef face to face with a Polarbear, I would be a f/64(in my butthole)

Exploring is like tattoos... They stopped being cool in 2005

I'd probably go from.. "Heh, it's smiling at me..." to "arglglg" in a matter of seconds, as well.

I'd also like to take back what I said about smiling and not being intimidating:

Yeah, a photographer noticed the bear would come and play with the dog every so often, and you can see a video of them playing together gently.
