I want to visit the hospital up by the TPB set. That's my one true Nova Scotian goal! How possible that is... You tell me!? Chris...
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

That might not be such a good idea. It all depends on whether the TPBs are filming and/or if there is a security guard monitoring the site. There tends to be a guard there on and off in the warmer months... especially in and around filming. But, if there is no filming and no sign of a guard, I'm in. You should see York Redoubt while you're in town. There is some man-made underground stuff out there that I highly recommend. Its a national historic site like Citadel Hill is but there are some fenced off 'No Trespassing' areas that are lots of fun... Definitely a lesson in military history... UE style.

Well hopefully some friendly locals can advise of that, nearer the time! I'm definitely liking the sound of the other suggestions - keep 'em coming! Chris...

| | | Is the TPBs are gone there won't be security out at the hospital so that sounds like a reasonably good idea. York Redoubt, the ruins at Point Pleasant Park and possibly RCAF Beaverbank (aka the Villa) sound good as well.. The Villa is kind of risky but nothing we can't handle.. There isn't much left of the earth satellite station 1.5 hours outside of Halifax but if you had the time, that spot would be nice to go to in the summer... I've never been there when it wasn't cold.

Thinking about coming over early Friday, grab a rental car and a hotel room and stay till Saturday supper-time (flight leaves at 8ish I think). Yeah, I'd heard that the TPB were done and done, so I'm hoping we can get unmolested access to that area. Chris...

I'm gonna get the unlimited mileage and full tank of gas supplement with the rental car - so yes, we should have a look if you think it's worth it? Chris...

| | | So Zoom dicked around with my flight times for leaving a little, so it looks like I might be best doing the Halifax part of the trip FIRST! That would mean I'm in Halifax Thursday the 8th and hanging around until the Saturday morning. How would that suit everyone? As before, I'll rent a car and get myself a hotel for the time I'm there. Any recommendations on a decent cheap hotel - let me know!
Chris...

| | | i could probably do the 8th, depending on what shift i get that week. also, i book for all the hotels in NS, and the most reasonable closest to downtown would be the commons inn. http://www.commonsinn.ca/lobby.php Or you could get a dorm room at Dal at Morris Hall the downtown locations for like 35 bucks a night for a single. (The basement is featured in the UE DB ) Then there's hostels.. Any hotel in the downtown/close to area starts at 129.99 and up, plus parking. | | | It's looking like I'll have a friends' place to crash on Thursday (the 8th) night, so just the Friday night to find a hotel / guest house for! Thanks for the rough prices SonikGirl, remembering I'm paying for things in UKP (with a good exchange rate currently) those prices don't look bad at all. Would be nice if we could manage to hook up on the 7th, just missed you last time I was in Halifax! Chris...

I was in there after it was trashed, it's still in pretty decent condition, only difference is: it's a little messy in the entry point.
