| | | These shots are some of the first I've had a chance to take with my new camera, a Canon XTi (thanks to my lovely lady friend). This is my first experience shooting with anything other than a point and shoot. The first two shots were my practice with shooting at night, and the second two come from an excursion I made with Gordon Bombay and tron_2.0

| | | nice work all around. #1 - clone the wires out of the top left corner. #2 - crop off some of the top; get 1/3 sky, 1/3 skyline, 1/3 water. #3 - brighten it if you can, or lightpaint a little next time. #4 - is a cool little photo.

| | | Thanks for all the responses. Number 3 is a sort of local landmark, and yes I went with Ronny there. I had a few shots that were lightpainted as well, it's really a fun place to photograph.

| | | Awesome shots Ram, welcome to the DSLR world. 1 and 2 are really good, my only critique on number 2 is that it seems a little too bright and over exposed. Three turned out really good. I recommend you get a remote so you can use bulb mode on your camera and do longer exposures than 30 seconds because when we explore the rest of the site in number 3, you're going to need longer exposures. ;) Four ties with three for the best of your set, however I think the white balance is off unless you edited it that way intentionally. I remember it being really bright at that spot and the natural light and setting looking warmer.

| | | Thanks Gordon. 1 and 2 I think I went out a bit early, it was still early evening and not all that dark yet, I think in another hour they might have turned out better with the same settings. Also, I looked into getting a remote and found them to be around $18 so I'm thinking I might just grab one (I don't feel so good about holding the shutter for 5 minutes). On shot 4 I did edit the colors a bit, that was a really bright spot being on the southern side of the building, with a gaping hole, on a sunny day. I toned the colors down a bit on most of my shots in that building, but I did have a few second thoughts about it. By the way, I posted the rest of these sets on my website: http://daapspace4....y/photography.html

| | | If you don't mind me grabbing one from your site...
I love how you used the open hole on the south side to frame that other abandoned location. Nicely done. Looking back at the Cincinnati photos from Covington I really, really like the contrast between the city lights and the gray sky with the somewhat dull colors throughout the photo. It's nice to see some variety like that rather than the typical city night shot. Nice work sir.

| | | Thanks for the compliments. As for the Cincinnati shots, the grayish dull ones are really an outcome of the fact that it was my first time shooting with a DSLR and I really hadn't figured everything out yet. The fact that it was completely overcast and around sunset helped make the lighting a bit easier to work with though. As for the bridge, I don't think there are cameras on it, although it did just undergo some renovation so I may not be 100% accurate. Like this image shows though, the stairs are basically inviting someone to climb up. My fear of heights would kick in as soon as I stepped out onto the metal grate deck though, I wouldn't even make it out to the stairs I'd be so dizzy.

| | | That bridge looks very photogenic. Almost makes the 500 mile drive worth it to climb the thing. Maybe I'll make a detour next time I drive to Indianapolis.

| | | i think those are some pretty fantastic shots for a first time out on an SLR. i think the last shot of the 4 is great, the reflection really helps to give it an interesting factor. the night shots are great too, but i agree with done_corleyone about the first 2 shots. but overall, nice job...
