| | Mill in Snoqualamie < on 10/18/2007 10:09 PM >
| | | Anyone visit/see the abandoned mill in snoqualamie? The closest streets are: 396th Dr. SE and SE 70th Dr. it is close to the falls and looks quite interesting. I am worried about Weyerhauser being there because of past experiences they had with hippies. They have 24/7 security and a phone number to call to reach them.

| | | Put on a hard hat and tell the guards you represent someone looking to buy the land. Most security guards are F-up's and retards and wont question you if you ack like you know what you're doing. [last edit 10/18/2007 10:14 PM by don cornelius - edited 2 times]

| | | My suggestion is to go there on a Sunday. We didn't actually get into the mill itself (one of the people who tagged along wouldn't climb the fence, and was being a pain in the ass about being left alone,) we spent a good hour wandering around. I called the security number, got voice mail. At one point, a water truck pulled up to the hydrant by the road leading down from the office, and filled up. We waved, he waved. I went back to the car while he was there, and he didn't look twice at me. I never had a chance to go by and test this hypothesis, but I think if you went on the weekend, you'd have minimal problems.

| | | Alright, another concern is the reason they are closing the building down soon... It is contaminated but I can not find out anything on what is contaminating it.

| | | There is no way in hell that building is being closed down now. I think it has been closed down for a very long time. That thing couldn't meet codes even if the health inspector was drunk off his ***. However that building looks really cool. Definitely worth checking out. I have heard rumors that there is an abandoned train station near Snoqualmie in mint condition. Brass cash registers and all. I couldn't get an exact location.. However I heard rumors about a tuberculosis hospital in Shoreline from the same source and there was in fact such a building. So some of its got to be true. Neat find!! -Tom

| | | by closed down... I meant demolished. sorry for the improper wording. the train station would be cool to look at, I would take a walk along the RR tracks to find it. As an added bonus you might find spikes along side the train track on the walk, or find a bridge.

| | | Your in Redmond correct? All you have to do is walk to the Samammish river and you will see abandoned railway bridges and tracks. Theres even a bridge over the highway. Never did find out where those tracks ended.. -Tom

King's High School (Christian K-12 school) and CRISTA Ministries has occupied the former TB Hospital for over 50 years now. As a former student I can confirm there are limited tunnels but access is very, very limited and there is a security presence. Not worth seeing but the history is true.

| | | I was referring to a now demo'd building but I have seen the former, former TB asylum occupied by christa ministries. A gorgeous complex and left pretty much intact inside and out. -Tom

| | | A demo'd building on the Crista/King's campus or elsewhere in Shoreline? I'd love a chance to go exploring for that train station. /shakes fist at old man winter

| | | There are pictures.. Taken by other explorers on other websites. I dunno if they'd like it if I took their pics and put em on UER. I could be shot! Or hit with a banning stick for hanging out with such disreputable members. Anyway regardless of all silliness Firland (some call it fircrest) was a neat building. I saw it before its demolition. Some history: "The "New" Firland In 1943 King County assumed responsibility for Firland, and on November 25, 1947, patients from Firland and the former King County tuberculosis sanatoria, Morningside and Meadows, were ferried by ambulances to the "new" Firland, a decommissioned Naval Hospital at 15th Avenue NE and 150th Street. This operation was termed “the greatest mass movement of patients from one tuberculosis sanatorium to another in the history of any United States civilian hospital” (Lerner, 44)." (http://www.history...t.cfm?file_id=3928) A picture found online from a random source:
It was later used as a mental health clinic. Edit: This should be in the DB as a demolished location. Perhaps the explorers with pictures would like to create a location? I only saw the admin building as that was the only one left at the time and I don't know/care which role of film my pics are on -Tom [last edit 12/3/2007 3:53 AM by TomUE - edited 2 times]

| | | Ohhh okay, now I recognize where the 'new' Firland must have been, but haven't ever poked around in thata area. Interesting to see that picture of the 'old' Firland (CRISTA/King's) from 1914.

| | | I used to work at the "new" Firland. It's a state owned residential and nursing facility for the Developmentally Disabled, and there are no longer any disused buildings of note on campus, now that the Admin building has been demolished.

| | | I managed to make it out here on a Sunday. There were still some people working in the office. After about 30 minutes of walking around the edge of the grounds security pulled up to the main office as well. There isn't really a good way to get to this place without going across a large open field. The outside of this place is the best part. This place was really trashed.

| | | Huh.. Not long ago.. Aside from the obvious lack of windows and the condition of the building itself the machinery and catwalks were very much intact, its too bad you hadn't seen it then. -Tom
