| | | Maryland Quarry < on 7/22/2007 4:58 AM >
| | | I found this place some time ago, was wondering if anyone else has seen it. Pretty much a quarry on the Potomac that seems like its not being used. I imagine someone has been here already, but I have yet to find any pics of the place on any sites. Beaver Trap
Belt from quarry to barges on Potomac
Random bike in random storage shed
Approaching
A little nervous on the way up
Sifting
Where the barges roam
A barge, 208 to be exact
Where the stone comes from
Don't know where it goes...yet
A dismembered doll in a house on site

By abandoned you do mean housing development with a Starbucks right? I always wanted to go UERing with a double tall breve peppermint mocha.

| | | Nice, it's a pretty big quarry. Doesn't look abandoned on the google map though. Do you know if there is any security there or anything of that sort? Thanks.

You mean all the old people living in the housing development that was just built in the quarry? You know, the housing development that pretty much negates the aspect of it being abandoned? I was just curious if that's what you meant. Housing development. Houses. Let's get some lattes.

According to google map houses are reasonable distance away but there are mounds of sand or something that look kinda fresh. On the other hand google maps are probably like 2 years old by now so this need to be taken into consideration.

Well, according to the fact that I went to school for 2 1/2 years around the corner from that quarry (not to mention lived in the backyard of a certain Owings Mills asylum during that time) I can tell you there's nothing to take pictures of unless you really like photographing big new houses and bulldozers. Drive down and take a look for yourself. If it's too far away, find something better to check out. There's also some neat fields of grass nearby, and some trees. Buffalo farms, too.
