|  | | | Are there are any forum members here from Santa Fe, New Mexico? I know this is kind of a longshot, because it really isn't an urbex type of place (with hardly any former or present industrial plants and very few abandoned buildings. What the area does have, however, are oodles of ghost towns. Some are slowly becoming inhabited again and may not really count as urbex locations. I am originally from there, but never did any urbex there. It took coming to Buffalo to even realize such a thing existed. Has anyone done any interesting exploring there? I'd like to come up with a list of places to check out when I eventually make it back.

2x is just jiving you man. Exploring is what you make of it. As for abandoned buildings, there is plenty to see.. Tons of old schools, roadside motels, diners, mini golf courses, ranch houses, drive in theaters, etc. Also, as you mentioned, there are lots of ghost towns. Mines are my main focus. Just start driving down any road, keep your eyes open, and you will find more than you have time for. There are a few extremely cool locations, and if you hang around for awhile and show your mettle, I just may clue you in.......

It will be very interesting when I return to New Mexico. I'll be looking at it from a very new perspective I'm sure. There are a lot of interesting places I never realized were in my backyard growing up and I can't wait to go back to see what I find. One of the biggest things I love about the state is that there is always something new to to surprise me, like a remote mountain, an untraveled canyon, rural mountain towns . . . you name it. It's a perfect place for any adventure-seeker.
If all goes well, I'll becoming back around Christmas and hopefully sticking around for awhile.
