| | | | Abandoned Anchor-Hocking Glass Plant < on 6/6/2007 1:11 AM >
| | | The gigantic Anchor-Hocking plant closed in 1987. The industrial park holding the plant was absolutely huge, but it's all gone now, reduced to piles of rubble. The only things left standing are the silo building and part of a loading dock. The huge silo dominates part of the skyline, and I've been interested in it for a while. Finally got to check it out last weekend. It wasn't too interesting, but I got some nice photos. It's at least six stories tall, but I couldn't get off the ground floor because there were no stairs, only the remains of the freight elevator. Hopefully one of these days I'll figure out a way to get up higher. As far as explorations go it was pretty boring, but since I still haven't run into anyone local to explore with, I'd better stick with the safe and boring stuff for now... don't want to get myself into any nasty situations and have nobody else to go for help. Anyway, despite the boringness I got some great shots.
(this shot is from a few months ago, and not part of the current set)

| | | I have a desk in my living room that looks exactly like the one in the last photograph, lol. I liked the set.
Some people are like slinkies - They don't serve a purpose, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down stairs |

| | | I was having a similar problem with a silo in Cairo, IL. I could not find a way up for the life of me. I had been in there twice by myself and I didnt see a way up into the silos. Then I went with two other people and found a way up. There was a ladder that went ALL the way up to the top of the silos. Were talking about a 6-8 story ladder here. At the top of the slio it was a compositional buffet, plus, I found a way onto the roof. Long story short, look for a ladder. Fuck elevators, ladders are the way to go. If you find one, bring gloves, a head lamp, and dont look down.

| | | Theres definitely no other way up. All the stairs and ladders were in other sections of the building that got torn down. Judging from the way it looks, two or three of the exterior walls on that structure used to be interior.
