| | | (Venice, LA) This is the last post office on the west bank of the Mississippi, about two miles from the end of the road, period. A single raccoon had colonized it, and scared the crap out of me when it began to protest my presence. It was the first of several raccoons I would encounter on the trip. I think when the Apocalypse finally arrives, it won't just be cockroaches that survive; the raccoons will be right there with them.

| | | Nicely done. Thanks for the pics and the info. I've never ran into a racoon on a trip, but I have been startled by a baby vulture and a yellow fire dummy.

| | | Ah, good old Venice. The devastation down there is terrible. Even now there are boats thrown up in the marsh all along CG road.

| | | That "raccoon" was actually an undercover agent for the Department of Homeland Security, on patrol for "t'rists" on Federal property. See you in five to ten years.

I doubt the feds care about this bomb shell, but the mold and raccoon might! A rabid raccoon is nasty. I still have a picture in my mind of one that jumped onto a lady from an overhead tree limb, and mauled the piss out of her head and neck before being subdued. Nothing worse than a rabies infected bite in the head or neck. Risking nuts and limb for UER
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |
