| | | These were not taken by me,but by a friend who arrived earlier than me. You can't tell the extent of the damage from them, but it gives you an idea of how bad it was.
And here is the diagram I attempted to make. The area right next to admin is confirmed damaged by me.The rest I have heard rumours that it is bad there.
Sorry Im no photoshop master.

| | | I was waiting for the news to end up here; saw it on a different site already. Here's the article link that was posted there: http://www.poughke...31/NEWS01/70531036 I was putting this place off till the summer to see, and this news sucks. But, at least (from your diagram) not much of it was totally destroyed.

| | | http://poughkeepsi...01/NEWS01/70601005 There's the link to the story in our local paper.
This completely breaks my heart, I loved that site, and I never got to explore the admin building on the inside. Now I can't ever see one part of it, only in photos. =[ My bets are that some idiots were inside doing stupid shit, probably smoking. It's just soo sad. ='[ Thanks for posting this, I was just about to!

| | | Yeah the news hasn't spread far.I get the Poughkeepsie Journal so it was on the front page.Same info as you can find online,so its not even worth me scanning it in.From my diagram I can only confirm what I saw.I hope damage is not much worse than that.

| | | ok, more updates from friends who were/are with the site manager today. -the arches are standing, but there are huge holes into the the building. you can see straight through the walls/brick into the arches area when you are standing outside. they are letting the damaged stuff fall into itself, so this is likely what will happen to the arches quite soon. if i understood the two people i spoke to on the phone correctly, admin is ok and female wards are ok. but male is destroyed. the clubhouse is damaged, the roof is destroyed. looks like the trampoline survived. the female wing seems to be ok. more news- the owners are speaking with a fence company. they are ordering a fence, possibly like that "scary fence" up in mass.... there will be 24 hour security for a while now, maybe a few weeks. cops and cruisers. and they will be doing a major investigation. so anyone who feels an urge to drive over there, i would strongly suggest you do not try to enter the remaining wards/building areas. creeping up to take external pics from a decent distance might be ok since lots of neighbors and others are doing so. but i wouldn't suggest anyone get close.

| | | I would advise everyone to stay clear of the site as well. There is a shitton of security there right now, as well as investigation units and what not. Here's hoping that the cause of the fire was lightening from the storm earlier that day and not vandalism.

| | | Christ, upon moving to NY two + years ago there are two things I found out is most popular in this state: Cigarettes and burning buildings. Glad I'm leaving. Sad to hear it burned Another one gone.

| | | Ugh.Well NY sells those cigarettes that go out by themselves. But any kind of hot substance in a 100+ year old building is not a good mix.

It's sort of a process of elimination.

| | | May have not been an arson, then....but probably was. Rare times it is just a random mishap. Don't matter now, damage is done.
