| | Biosphere II < on 5/18/2007 7:09 PM >
| | | Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew more about Biosphere II? Beyond being the premise for a Pauly Shore movie, it was actually a scientific enclosed ecosystem in the 80s. However, they are changing owners and turning it into a culdesac... may be a cool adventure! http://www.tucsonweekly.com/gbase/Tools/PrintFriendly?url=%2Fgbase%2FCurrents%2FContent %3Foid%3Doid%253A78666

| | | I read something about it earlier. Do it! I've seen contemporary photos and it looks pretty abandoned.

| | | If they are indeed going to tear it down then someone should definitely explore and document it ASAP! I would love to if I was going to be in the area. I remember reading about Biosphere 2 in elementary school and I have always wondered what happened to it.

| | | I don't think they are planning to tear it down. But if in fact they are I will let everyone know. I am going there this Sunday. If it is abandoned then exploring it should be a lot of fun. If not, I guess I'll fork over $20 and take a tour.

Don't worry - it just has the plans of the facility and the exact entry points for UE people to get in and out, as well as a ton of photos and such. Perhaps in time - you too will be "worthy" (P.S. I jest with thee)

| | | It's still open every day for tours. I visited the Biosphere II in 1998 and have been itching to go back because they decided to open it up even more in 2002 and now you can see parts of it you never could before. $20 bucks sounds like a bargain for that kind of experience.

| | | I went to this place when I was a kid, back in like 1992. It was pretty damn cool if I remember correctly. The website makes it look pretty damn active, though.
