| | | I would have to say that grappling hooks arent the best tools, because you have to think about how strong the structure is that is holding the hook.

That's not an issue if you hacked your phone and modified it with a structural-integrity sensor!

Thats not a flaw on the hook though.. thats a flaw in using it at the wrong time, or not testing the line..

Speaking of tools... nick...
great logic. "Ladders arent the best tools because you have to think about how strong the structure is that is holding the ladder..." Maybe we can Use a super sized pogo stick or moon shoes instead...

I never got to use Moon Shoes. I weighed too much when they were invented.

| | | Posted by A-BOMB This is my folding hook and my 5/8" rope, Though you were talking about about a auto ascender you could use a large cordless drill with the correct gearing, turning a capstan type winch. http://i151.photob...de556/PICT0044.jpg

i don't think i would trust that from the looks of it.

Its stronger than it looks, it all 5/8" and the wingnut locks with a cotter pin. And the rope is 100 feet of 7/8" 1780# test. I tried launching it with my golfball cannon, and it near killed me I tied the end of the rope to my jeeps bumper and shot it when it hit the end of the rope it came flying back at me.

I didn't think the cannon would have enough compressed air to launch it 30' fee let alone 150' with the weight of the hook and rope I didn't think it would go half as far.

Even if he did, it's the coolest damn thing I've heard of yet in this thread. We're sitting here fanasizing about grappling hooks while this jackass (the good kind) is nearly killing himself with him. I salute you good sir!

| | | lol i love the idea of a shoulder fire grapple, however, i would think it would be a little impractical for UE. plus, getting caught might be harder to talk your way out of with a small canon slung over your shoulder. as for an accender, why not use a simple hand winch strapped to some sort of harness? http://www2.northe...1/85683+278918.htm

Shoulder mounted cannon would be cool.. best size I can think of is like 4 feet long that breaks down... As for the winch, thats alot of weight.. you'd be MUCH better off just learning to climb a rope..

| | | Winches are impractical, you'd be better off with a Petzl GriGri They are light ascender/descender/belay units (i'm a total Petzl Fanboy)

| | | Shoulder fired the biggest that you would want to carry with you is 3 feet long. Break down would prove Difficult If using Air pressure. Who knows summer is on its way, maybe I'll give it a try and see what I can come up with. lol
